I usually like my time at Applebee's, but this last trip was terrible. It started out where we were seated in a booth. A larger party, bigger possible tip, was seated in the same servers section after we were seated. We sat and waited with no server in sight. An attentive hostess, the one that seated us, noticed it had been almost 15 minutes and no one had approached us. She got the manager to come over and get our drink order started. He then asked another server, who happened to be in early for her shift, if she would clock in early and help us. Of course she was glad to help. She took our order. Mine was a burger, no onions, no sauce. My wife had pasta and seafood. Another server delivered our meals. My wife's order was ok. Mine not so much. The sauce was dripping off the extra onions on my burger. When our server finally came to check on us, I showed what had happened. She of course apologized and made it right. My wife was almost done by the time my correct burger arrived. We ate and waited, and waited for the check. It finally arrived. When I looked at it, the coupon our server had taken at the time we ordered, was not shown on the check. When she finally came back to pick up the check, I asked her about it and she said she had forgotten it. Things happen, but she had to get the manager involved again, to take care of the check. We paid and left. All said and done, it was still a good meal, I'll gladly go back to this facility and hope this doesn't happen again. I'll keep you posted with an update from the next trip. Update: 8/11/24 I was contacted by the general manager today. Very apologetic about what happened. We were invited back to give them another try. It seems the time of day we went in, shift change, is a hectic time in the dining room. They are trying to implement some sort of new system to ensure tables are covered better during this time. Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt has been a while since my last visit to Applebee's (Different location). My previous visit was poor at best, so I figured I would give it another shot here in Roanoke, VA. Conclusion: I ordered the Bourbon Street Steak. (Rare). The steak arrive with burnt onions and mushrooms on the side, and as far as the requested cooking temp of "RARE", forget it! The pathetically small cut of tough and grissle ridden meat was cooked to one step above shoe leather. The filthy griddle and crusted wooden skillet holder were reminiscent of discarded cookware that one might find in a landfill. This franchise is literally floundering and based on 3 other tables swnding food back, Applebee's will be short lived without a significant improvement and a total overhaul of the food quality and preparation/presentation techniques. Personally, I have decided that my family and I shall NEVER patronize Applebee's in the future. Final Insult: When I asked the server to send the steak back and provide me with the following: clean eating utensils, clean skillet, a wooden skillet holder free from numerous other diners germs and food droppings... I was told... "This is how the Burbon Street is served!" I promptly gathered my family, placed $20 on the table to cover our beverages and evacuated the restaurant with much haste and thorough DISGUST!! FINAL THOUGHT: Boycott Applebee's, seek actually palatable offerings from a proprietor that takes pride in quality, service and it's patrons. Applebee's in Bonsack should be ashamed, and the Applebee's franchise should conduct an unannounced visit to see what is the NEW representation of the corporate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn October 18th I visited Applebee's for lunch with a guest. As I was seated at a booth my guest headed to the bathroom. The women layed the menu on the table and said she would be back. I waved her to come back to the table and informed her the table had not been cleaned at ALL! There was salt all over the entire table. She said she would be back. She sprayed the table while I sat there and sloppily wiped the table. She wiped in spots only and then walked away missing most of the table.. I should of got up and just left. As I sat there I wittnessed another table one away their table was not cleaned either. That waitress had them get up and the table was cleaned. Your process is not safe and your staff do not understand the importance of the health of your customers! Your business is the only one I have actually eaten out at- yours for the second time and saw issues then with some staff wearing masks and some not. Totally disappointed. Then the waitress dropped the bill off then came immediately back and stood at our table waiting for her tip and payment. Just so you known I still tipped at 20%. The bourbon steak meal was very good but I question the prep of the food when you can not keep up with cleanliness of the table. Water glassbwas empty never filled or offered to refill.
