Country Corner — Local services in Vinton

I came for plants, but they have a cute little market section and an abundance of country-style kitsch gifts and garden ornaments if you're into that kind of thing. They have a great selection of perennials here and terrific prices. They have plants I have not been able to find at my two "go to" nurseries and they offered lower prices than anywhere else for plants that I had already purchased and established in my garden (although in fairness, some of their plants were ridiculously expensive in comparison with other places, but that was definitely a small percentage). The three stars is a result of the surly, sour staff. Not one employee smiled, said hello, or responded in a friendly manner when I said hello to them. Every person there looked like they were having a terrible day and I did my best to steer clear of the staff while I browsed. I envy all the people in previous reviews who got friendly service, because it certainly wasn't in evidence when I was there. I'll check back if there's something I absolutely can't find anywhere else, but I am so weary of unfriendly businesses in the Roanoke area that cultivate negativity towards their customers....

I've been getting all my plants here for 25 years. They usually have a great selection of plants to choose from but I wish they would expand their inventory to add more choices of perennials, it's always the same plants every year. The merchandise they sell on the inside is VERY expensive. They have solar items that they charge 20 to 25 dollars for and alot of the things you can get at Walmart for 10 dollars. Now some of their items are pricey but they're worth what they charge. I just don't think they should sell some stuff at double the price. They have a section of pickled foods and good selection but some of it is a bit pricey. They're definitely not the friendliest people!! I don't mind paying extra because they have items that you probably couldn't find anywhere else but it would be a nice change if the employee's were to smile once in a while. I can remember when this was just a little hole in the wall so you should appreciate the customers that built your business to what it is today! JUST...

We've been buying our garden plants from Country Corner for years. The last 2 years we've purchased plants mislabeled. Last year 1 pack of tomatos were not what supposed to be. This year 2 packs of our cucumbers were not burpless and 1 pack of stripey tomatos was golden boys instead. We are sooooo very dissappointed. I don't know if the same people are seeding the plants and getting mislabeled during the process but when you do a small garden and get pickling cucumbers not burpless when you get burpless so you don't burp and then you get golden boys not stripey which is our very favorite. You just get very frustrated. I don't know if the process can be improved or corrected but it never happened until the last 2 years. July 2024 bought 32 tomatoes. My 4 golden boys are sone kind of red small tomato and my 3 stripey are golden boys. This is last straw. They have no control over seeds and what's in containers and I'm hearing from other customers too. After 20 year I'm bo longer...
