Basilico New York Deli — Restaurant in Virginia

Update - the issues we experienced during opening night have been resolved and this location is every bit as good as the other locations in the area. 5 Stars!!!

We've waited so long!!!

This location is promising! It's not as good as their other locations - yet... but they'll get there!

This was our first time at this location and will review this specific location in a bit but first I want to say we LOVE Basilico NY Deli in general.

Basilico tends to have lower prices than most, very good Paninis, great hero subs, decent pasta, soup & salad, very good pizza and the best Calzones.

But the dessert? Best within 50 miles AT LEAST! Terrific variety, everything is fresh, most beautiful colors, always made perfectly. They have a huge variety of baked Pastries, Cheesecake and Gelato you will find anywhere. No matter where we eat, my wife and I ALWAYS hit Basilico for dessert after a date. Anytime we have friends or family in town this is where we go for dessert.

We went there late Friday on opening week so it was busy and they were low on supplies. They're going to be acclimating to the new location and training staff for a bit so for now - its gets 4 stars but fully expect it will get 5 stars at our next visit.

Tonight the staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. They were out of the type of pasta I ordered and out of pizza dough for the calzone my wife and daughter ordered. They were also out of some soda flavors but worked with us to give us the next best thing they had available.

Overall not what we have grown to expect from Basilico NY Deli, but no reason to believe it won't be perfect the next time we come. We'll try...

A few weeks ago I went to Basilico on Veterans Day in the early afternoon thinking there weren't many cars in the parking lot and maybe I could get take out pretty quickly. I ordered a Margarita pizza, sandwich, salad, and a couple of espressos. After getting my espressos, I carefully watched the food being expedited and saw that my sandwich and salad were quickly dispatched but my pizza took longer than expected. I understand there were online orders and people in the restaurant, but after waiting 40 min, I came to find that my pizza had been ready for over 15 min after the expediter had to ask about my pizza. My food was cold and there wasn't any offer to remake my pizza or anything to rectify my wait and cold pizza. Instead, I got pushed out the door. It was truly a disappointment. I had been there every single day for two weeks. Sometimes you get good service, or you get someone who would rather be somewhere else. Because I do truly enjoy their food and their coffee is top notch, I will continue to come back. But they really could work on getting their food expedite in order. It understandable that they are a new operation here in North Stafford. They have to meet their Doordash, Uber Eats, online orders but even when it wasn't busy, they couldn't get it right. I still believe their service will get better. Their food is amazing and they were exactly what we needed on 610. Maybe that day...

I gave the food 3 stars for two reasons... over all my pizza was good, flavor was good... but the pizza was undercooked on the bottom.. soft and doughy while the crust itself was perfect.. I asked for crunch but not burnt.. it was definitely not even close.. very floppy.. but the flavor was good.. if the thing would of been cooked right it would of been a 4 to 5 star I think easy.. garlic bread was solid.. no complaints there.

I did try my buddies chicken parm.. it was over cooked and dry.. the chick was cooked dark and it didn't have much flavor.. that dish was a 1 at best.. again could of been an off day.. but this is my honest review.. I will try again and if it's better I'll come back and update this.. I personally can't believe they sent the chicken out like that.. pizza is what it is.. I wasn't going to waste it and I know it can't go back into the over after coming out.. my buddy did not eat but a few bites of his.. next time he's trying the pizza.. this comes down to taking pride in your work.. people just don't seem to...
