The Disgusting Burger Challenge: A Culinary Adventure**
Imagine walking into a trendy burger joint filled with the aroma of grilled patties and crispy fries. You’re excited to try the latest menu item, but as you glance at it, your excitement turns to dread. The “Gross Burger” has arrived—a bizarre concoction that seems to defy the very essence of what a burger should be.
What’s in the Gross Burger?
The Patty: Instead of a classic beef or chicken patty, this burger features a thick slab of gelatinous tofu topped with an unidentifiable sauce that glistens ominously under the fluorescent lights.
The Cheese: A slice of processed nacho cheese—bright orange and oozing—sits atop the patty, blending into the sauce in a way that is more unsettling than appetizing.
The Toppings: The usual lettuce, tomato, and onions are swapped for pickled jalapeños, crushed potato chips, and gummy bears, creating a rainbow of colors that clash on the plate.
The Bun: Instead of a fluffy sesame seed bun, there’s a charcoal-infused brioche that looks normal but smells faintly of burnt rubber.
The Secret Sauce: This “sauce” is an unholy mix of ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, and, oddly enough, chocolate syrup—resulting in a sticky, gooey layer that threatens to drip down your hand with every bite.
The Experience
Taking a bite of the Gross Burger is an assault on the senses. The first taste is a bewildering mix of flavors that shouldn’t go together—sweetness from the gummy bears colliding with the sourness of the pickles. Each chew releases an odd combination of textures: the sludgy patty, the grainy cheese, and the crunchy chips create a cacophony in your mouth that challenges your culinary understanding.
The Verdict
Why would anyone attempt to eat such a monstrosity? The answer lies in the thrill of the challenge. Foodies everywhere are daring their friends to face the Gross Burger, documenting their reactions on social media, and taking bets on who can finish it without gagging.
At the end of the day, the Gross Burger serves a fundamental purpose: it brings people together for laughter, camaraderie, and a shared experience of culinary absurdity. So if you’re feeling adventurous (or just want a good laugh), gather your friends and take a stab at the Gross Burger challenge—you might just find a new favorite or an unforgettable...
Read moreBeen a huge fan since they first opened, still a huge fan today. Damn Good’s service is always top-notch- the bartender(s) are always so friendly and fast. My husband and I love all of their burgers, but man, do I constantly crave their Cajun and parm truffle fries. SO GOOD. I love that they feature a unique burger of the month. Damn Good has a nice beer selection, and their cocktail offerings are always so unique and fun- oh, and of course, delicious. Also, whoever is in charge of their marketing, applause- seriously impressive. We will never stop coming here!
UPDATE (11/2022): I’m a bit annoyed. I used to come here on an almost weekly basis, and the service used to be top tier. Lately, I don’t know what is going on. The last three or four times we have stopped in, there has been an issue. The first time, we sat at the bar at happy hour. And we sat. And we sat. Nobody came over- for at least ten to fifteen minutes. So we just left. I don’t understand if there has been a change in management or if this location has lost a lot of staff, but it’s not what it used to be. We decided to take my brother here for lunch yesterday and order at the counter then sit down. My husband and brother get their food. But I figured I would give it a few minutes before I said anything. It was clear my meal wasn’t coming, so I walk up to the register and let them know. He did say he doesn’t know what happened and gave me a refund, but the interaction was just very awkward. I did eventually get my meal, and appreciated the refund. I have emailed their customer service a month or two ago to let them know of our concerns. Still have yet to hear anything back. Disappointed to...
Read moreIt was my husband's turn to choose a new to us local restaurant to support and he did not disappoint. He had me at boozy milkshakes, but I definitely like a good burger as well. I really enjoy hanging out in and around Arlington/Shirlington and this was another great experience in a community courtyard area behind the Hilton. We parked in the hotel garage and walked the short distance to the restaurant. It wasn't busy; and there was a very large menu board to order from upon entry. I ordered the Horseradish Bourbon Burger and my husband ordered the Peppercorn Steakhouse burger....both medium rare. We also tried the parmesan truffle fries and cajun fries. For drinks we tried the Old Ox porter, Nutella boozy shake, and peanut butter cup boozy shake. The burgers were delicious, napkins needed with all the toppings they have, but do not let that lessen the meat patty, it is large and juicy. I thought the truffle fries went well with the Horseradish in my burger. The Cajun fries would have added more heat than I wanted. The shakes are delicious! I love nutella; so this was a huge win. The only thing that might have beat it would have been the unicorn shake with the pool floatie, but they were packaging the shakes in more conservative to go cups, which makes sense for the pandemic. I'm co.ing back for the unicorn shake in the future. In case you haven't figured it out already, you need to check this place out. They locally source their products and even though this isn't local, it is worth mentioning they have Maine root sodas on fountain taps! I'm a Maine native; so this was icing on the cake. Thanks for a great experience; we will definitely...
