Cold Harbor Restaurant — Restaurant in Virginia

We have been going to this restaurant for years and today is the LAST day we will ever eat there!

First.. after being seated and waiting a while, I had to finally FIND a waitress to let them know we were going to help ourselves to start on the breakfast buffet. Usually, they promptly come to your table to take your drink order, so this was not normal for them.

We all immediately found all meats were cold.. which is not normal for them.

Upon paying, they did not find it courteous to make sure we knew about there new policy to CHARGE a service fee if you pay with a credit card!

When I questioned the extra fee I was advised that I should have noticed the little hand written sign taped to the counter!

When I suggested it would have been nice if when I presented my card, she could mention this extra fee, the checker thought it was appropriate to invite the arguementative imput from waitresses across the room...who imformed us that WE could have noticed the sign on the front door!

The food was terrible, the register person was unprofessional and the $12/person buffet price was already excessive...this service fee and the behavior of the staff was the final straw.

In one visit, we went from being a 15 year customers, who brought in visiting friends and family to this... hope it was worth it Cold Harbor Restauran.. there are MANY places to get breakfast, but only so many loyal customers you can treat this way.

THE RIGHT THING TO HAVE DO, IS KINDLY MENTION THIS FEE, WHEN YOUR CUSTOMER PRESENTS YOU WITH A CREDIT CARD... this would have been appreciated... but I guess a person who would engage the rest of the staff to support trying to disrespect a customer, would never have thought of such a...

If you want to leave a review you may want to wait until you leave. I don't usually get feedback so I thought nothing of leaving it before we left the restaurant. The server came up to me and said she read the review and it was very uncomfortable. I won't repeat what was said but just wait til you leave.

The server seemingly had a slight attitude at first but I shrugged it off once we interacted when I placed my order. One of the people in my party asked for a sandwich with mustard and onions only. It came to the table with onions and mushrooms without mustard. I asked for a salmon cake. It seemed different but who are me? When I got the check it was $3.75 more than expected and knew it must have been a crab cake. I asked the people if they heard me order salmon. They said yes. I said something to the server. She said she thought I asked for the crab and then asked me if I ate it. I said I ate what was served. I didn't think to ask because people manipulate seafood in all kinds of ways. She changed the price. When I went to pay with my card the register price and receipt price was different. I was charged a dollar to use my card and the only way one would know is if you read a paper on the counter-there is no publication. Went here today 10/01/22 around 10 am, with my family who lives here locally after having a MANDATORY EVACUATION from my home in FL. I used to eat here a lot when I lived here with my family, so I was excited to go back and eat FOOD! The waiter/“owner” kicked as out, once the rest of the table sat down. My boyfriend, mom and I had already sat down and gotten our drinks and were ready to order. My boyfriend asked our waiter, who stated she is the owner if they had eggs Benedict, she rudely said no. The rest of my party arrived and she kicked us out and said that one person with us, was not allowed here. This person also has 2 brothers that look exactly alike him and come here frequently. The person she was accusing had not been here in 2 years. Then the waiter/“owner”said to my sister, they need to set a better example for her children. Our whole family and kids, got up and peacefully left. So that was so unacceptable for someone to say. (I do not know the waiters name/“owners name” because she did not introduce us. Overall she was just very rude to us and I pray she learns how to be kinder to others, because you really never know what others are...
