My husband and I discovered Williams Bakery last holiday season, when I was seeking a gingerbread cookie fix, and my husband came home with these colorful and delicious cookies! Thinking these delightful gingerbread treats were only available during the holiday season, we mistakenly didn’t visit Williams Bakery again until a couple of weeks ago. Here’s the great news: they actually have these wonderful gingerbread cookies year-round, we found out on our most recent visit! So what’s so special about these gingerbread cookies? Loaded with strong ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and molasses flavors, this cookie features crispy edges with a tender center that melts in your mouth. An exciting treat, each bite builds a little from the spice blend, giving your body and soul that all-over warmth that only wintertime spices can. Decorated with a soft, velvety buttercream icing that acts as a sweet foil to the spiciness of the gingerbread, these ginger men and women were donned with candy-coated chocolates as well. Each burst of chocolate flavor combined with the spicy profile of the cookie really made for an interesting and well-balanced experience. As you may imagine, we have decided that Williams Bakery is *the* place to find authentic and delicious gingerbread cookies! Now, it was bright and early in the morning when we arrived at Williams Bakery to relive the past holiday’s memories, and it was chock full of patrons, as well as baked goods! I took myself and my camera on a short tour, as it was crowded (rightfully so!) and therefore difficult to snap lots of photos. Each and every shelf, nook, and table was occupied by the most delightful treats, ranging from classic oatmeal raisin cookies, decadent oatmeal chocolate chunk cookies, colorful M&Ms cookies, their very own Spice Cookies, light and airy angel food cakes, luxurious breads stuffed with nuts and fresh orange, as well as ready-to-heat and serve cream cheese frosting smothered cinnamon rolls. Why, there was even a gingerbread cookie kit for you to decorate your own gingerbread cookies with your loved ones! In addition to the walls and tables piled high with these culinary delights, there was an ample counter stuffed with individual donuts of all sorts, cookies, and other exquisite pastries to be purchased a la carte or by the dozen. Knowing that we were saving our gingerbread cookies for later in the day, we knew we had the perfect reason to order some fresh baked donuts to start our holiday morning, and promptly requested both a lemon filled donut and a cream filled donut. As soon as we got home, we neatly divided each donut so that we could share our breakfast, and each experience the flavors and textures we were so excited about! These donuts were both baked so nicely, with a delicately crisp but tender outside, with a light, fluffy but still doughy inside. What made these donuts sing was their balanced composition, as each was filled with just the right amount of creamy filling, ensuring that each bite had the proper ratio of filling to donut. As for the lemon filling, it gave the perfect amount of “pucker;” it was a well-balanced, sweet and sour flavor with a rich and cheerful attitude. A smooth, ambrosial cream filled the second donut, with its farm fresh ingredients and balanced textures. Hopefully, you can see how joyous our trips to Williams Bakery have been, and you know we’ll be back time and time again. If this location of Williams Bakery is farther from you, don’t worry, there are two more locations in the Richmond area that should suit you!

I made a video. An amazing old soul brought donuts in from this place I never been to and I ate this and it was so good. It gave flavor you could taste the slight fry on it like a funnel cake type taste. The texture was spot on it was a slight crisp crunch on the outside very mild and then it goes into the soft inside. The light powder sugar made me laugh as it floated onto me the cream inside was slightly sweet not over powering it was the perfect amount inside and it was just really good. I will be going to grab a second regular type donut hopefully no one minds me getting seconds 😂 it was so right on time and felt like a good place to go if you want a treat. I wonder what else they make.

Highly recommend Williams Bakery!! I requested a sheet cake for my daughter's baptism with just less than a week's notice, which they were able to accommodate, but then backed out because a family member wanted to make it. When we realized there wouldn't be enough time to make that in addition to all the other things we were making, I reached back out again and they happily accepted. The cake tasted very real and fresh, and the design was beautiful! There are some bakeries where cakes taste very artificial and boxed, but this is not the case with Williams Bakery. We will definitely be ordering from them again and we can't wait to try their other pastries on display!

I Ordered a cake 2 days in advanced for my Birthday e-mailed pics of the color scheme and type of decoration I wanted and spoke to a couple of people in person to assure I got what I wanted. Several requests from me due to the fact that I've always made my own cakes, 1st I wanted a Marble cake, they didn't do those so I only could get layer of chocolate and layer of vanilla, so I thought??? Ok I could live with that!!! When I picked up my cake the frosting was the correct color but the waves were not done to my photo I emailed them???? They did the other pictures waves, ok I can live with that too. The other decorations on it were ok made of fondant so very chunky (big) for the cake, the writing on the cake covered the entire top of the cake and looked like someone with no experience wrote it. Now we get into the cutting of the cake, I requested the cake be very moist and fresh! Well it tasted a week old and very, very dry also was 3 layers 2 chocolate and 1 vanilla, was never told it would be 3 layers if I had been told I would have specified 2 vanilla and 1 chocolate layer. I would not recommend this bakery for a specific cake order on top of the exorbitant cost did not get anything that I specified other than the color of the frosting!!!! I will try to post pics so you can see what I wanted as to what I got??? In answer to why I didn't reach out to you because it was a holiday and you were closed the next day, also didn't know about the tasteless cake, or the dryness, or the 3 layers until the 4th ( you were closed ) that's why I was very specific as to what I wanted. It's like they didn't hear a word I said. And it would have been nice to know it was going to be 3 layers so I could have told them to do 2 van, 1 chocolate. And why don't you do Marble cakes???? They at the store just said IDK?????? Only do that with pound cakes???? Wish I could post pics here i think even you would be shocked as to what I got vs what I Ordered. And to have forked out 75+ dollars made me sick to throw so much cake away but no...

I've had very inconsistent experiences here. Their doughnuts are very good and, about two years ago, I ordered a strawberry cake for my Mom's birthday that was also quite good. Recently, my daughter wanted a special cake for her 13th birthday. She decided on the marble pound cake. It was very expensive, but I thought it would be worth it, so we went for it. The decorations were simple, but well done. It was definitely a pretty cake. But, the taste was such a let down. It was dry, had no flavor, and the icing was so sweet that we ended up just tossing it. None of the guests liked it. It was such a disappointment. We had ordered it over a week in advance and were so looking forward to it. So, I guess birthday cakes just aren't their strong suit. I would still recommend them for their other baked...
