Grandma's Cake Pantry — Restaurant in Virginia

The women who work here are very nice, they started their own pantry in the place where the ORIGINAL cake pantry from my childhood was. I am extremely supportive of small business, and local business, so I paid the requested $68.00 for a football field cake this Thursday morning, for a 30th birthday party. They seemed confident in their abilities, and said that everything I requested would be added to the cake. They had been in this location for 4 years now. WELL, They were still fixing the cake on Saturday morning when we picked it up, and had it taped up before letting us view the results. Once we got home, we opened the cake, and it was pure sloppiness. I asked for the 30 yard line to be larger than the rest of the numbers, and that was not done. The fondant was laid sloppy, with pieces not even touching the actual cake. The lines were uneven, and were way too thick for the cake size. The inzones fondant was laying OFF of the cake, and to the side... After they had said that they were not the same bakery, I should have walked out then, because the work was nowhere near worth what I paid for the services rendered. I do NOT recommend anyone go to them if you are looking for a professional looking cake! I honestly believe that Food-lion, or myself could have done a better job. But, as I said, I am all about local business. I would have given only one star, had they not been polite, or offered a sample cupcake when I placed my order. Ordered a cake for my granddaughter birthday. When I ordered the cake she told me $40.00. But when I picked the cake up she had added another 9.50. So she charged me 54.10...

They have really good cakes, brownies and just about anything else you can think of that's sweet....
