Jake's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Virginia

Let's put it this way: while they do serve excellent ice cream, my main reason for visiting is to support their cause. I often bring my nephew or other family or friends with me. A couple of months ago, during a particularly hot day, I was passing by their location in my neighborhood and decided to treat myself to an ice cream. However, halfway through enjoying it, I discovered a small hair in it, causing me to stop eating. Contemplating whether to inform them or not, I sat in my car in the parking area. Ultimately, I decided to call them instead to alert them so they could take extra precautions. Because I love their icecream, I wanted to give them a second chance. Following my usual routine, I brought along family members for a sweet ice cream treat. However, during my indulgence, I discovered another foreign hair in my ice cream– perhaps an eyelash or eyebrow hair again. Will not disclose the color of hair but it is not mine. The ice cream is ooey gooey and richly flavored! LOVED it. **BTW- the person who said the ice cream scoops are golf-ball sized must have ordered a MINI-cone, which the menu says is "a tiny scoop". The prices are competitive with franchise store prices and significantly lower than other local boutique ice cream stores.

We ordered regular scoops, and they are probably about 3/4 cup- PLENTY BIG! Our group ordered chocolate, chocolate chip, coffee, heath bar, banana, and cherry vanilla. 5-extra-large stars for all but the heath bar, which two of us rated as 4-stars.

The cones smell fabulous! And the lovely fragrance of sugar and ice cream hits you the moment you enter. Staff is humorous and quite good, especially for their first day open.

We'll be treating ourselves and all our guests and friends to ice cream at Jake's! Great location in Barcroft Plaza near the Harris Teeters. And YAY for an independent, neighborhood ice...

I love Jakes. Im so glad it is close to me so i can visit often. They have some really good flavors served in a cute setting with awesome staff.

The ice cream here is very creamy and served at the perfect temperature -- soft enough to be easy to eat, but not so soft that it drips all over while you eat it.

I've tried a lot of flavors here. They have rotating flavors that are innovative and interesting. They aren't all home runs, but they are all worth trying. Today I has the coconut cashew crunch, which was off the charts good.

The best thing here may be the staff. They are very friendly and eager to help. I had 3 different people offer to serve me while I was trying to decide on my flavors. You will never feel ignored at Jake's.
