BEWARE!!!! DO NOT TAKE SOMEONE TO TRY OUT PERUVIAN FOOD FOR THE FIRST TIME TO THIS PLACE. FOOD IS FAR FROM AUTHENTIC PERUVIAN FOOD.
QUICK UPDATE I FORGOT TO MENTION AND ADDING IT AFTER I POSTED THIS REVIEW: When I mentioned to the waitress that the main reason why I stopped by was because I used to eat there a few years ago and blah blah blah - she responded and I quote - ''It might be because the old cook was Peruvian, she used to work here for years but she quit, the guy that is working as a cook now is from (I forgot the country she mentioned)''.
In all fairness, this used to be a pretty good Peruvian restaurant. I lived in the Alexandria area about 7-8 years ago, matter of fact I lived 5 minutes from this location (they have another location in Woodbridge). I was driving by the area this past Sunday and decided to stop by to have some lomo saltado (which from what I recall I liked it a lot). But let me tell you - this visit was a COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT, I ordered ''papa rellena" as an appetizer and you could just tell it wasn't fresh, it was definitely from previous days, the texture was DISGUSTING, they only heat it up a couple of minutes as the inside was still a bit cold, we ate it anyway 1) We were starving and did not really want to wait until they heat it up again and also 2) did not really want to complain to the waitress as she looked a bit busy, I just wanted to get over it and get to my favorite dish of all time, lomo saltado.
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! THAT LOMO SALTADO DID NOT HAVE NO REAL FLAVOR, DID NOT TASTE A BIT LIKE A LOMO SALTADO. I also ordered it with ''tacu tacu'' (mixed rice and beans fried) and it also DID NOT HAVE ANY FLAVOR!!! Like does the cook know what SALT is? DOES HE EVEN USE SOME OF THE PERUVIAN CONDIMENTS THAT ARE NEEDED TO MAKE A GOOD LOMO SALTADO?
It was Sunday and apparently the owner was not in the restaurant that day so the server had to call her to explain the situation as I obviously after tasting a bit of the lomo saltado and tacu tacu and after the disappointment of the papa rellena as well, I decided not to pay the bill, just because it claims to be a Peruvian restaurant when IT IS CLEARLY NOT. She ended up charging me only the papa rellena just because I have already ate it (fair enough but still).
DO NOT COME IF YOU ARE TRYING TO ENJOY AUTHENTIC...
Read moreIf I could give ZERO stars I would!... EXTRA CHARGES!!! I placed my order over the phone from Justa's in Alexandria yesterday 06/17/2020. The lady over the phone NEVER mentioned that they were charging EXTRA for beef dishes(first chance). I got a lomo and seco de res. When I proceeded to make a payment I was NEVER told about the extra charges (second chance). When I looked at my receipt and asked the waitress what were the extra charges for, she said it was because the beef price have increased. I told her I was ok with the charges but I should've been told when I placed my order, she then argued that there was a sign at the door, I explained I placed my order over the phone and I was never told about the extra charges, nor the NEW EXTRA CHARGE was stated on their website, where I checked the menu prior to placing my order. She then got very RUDE and replied YOU SHOULD'VE KNOWN THAT THE BEEF PRICES HAVE GONE UP... NO, I don't need to know what are the market prices. I don't own a restaurant, I don't cook hence I'm buying food... If the prices are so high how come no other restaurants are spiking their prices?? As a matter of fact, they are trying to keep their customers coming. I don't think Justa's believe in this concept, since they act like they don't need your business.I didn't ask for a refund, I didn't want one. All I said was, next time you should tell your customers when they place their order. I used to go to Justa's and I never even cared when they used to ADD the TIP to your bill without asking you as well, what I can not tolerate is the rudeness and the "smart-mouth" nerve of the waitress. I am peruvian and although I can order from any other restaurant around the area, let's say PISCO AND NAZCA (DC) which is delicious and the prices are very similar to Justa's, I chose to go back to Justa's and help a family own business in this time of need. Sadly and needless to say, their customer service have decayed and unfortunately that plays a major role to the whole customer experience. To the owner of this place (IF he cares), the 2 waitress you used to have were awesome! and they made the whole experience amazing, even when the food wasn't great at times. Unfortunately all it takes is 1 careless employee to ruin...

I've been coming here probably since this place first opened and never complained about anything (pricing, customer service, food quality, etc etc) out of cultural respect, courtesy and pure understanding... until today.
I just received by far the skimpest lunch special of Lomo Saltado in the history of lomos. Yes, I get its lunch special portion, but serving 50% fries, 30% rice and a few pieces of steak is absolute robbery.
The food price is extremely exaggerated compared to the average Peruvian restaurant price in northern va. The food quality is average on the regular and above average if you catch them on a good day.
as if they're plates arent already overpriced they have the nerve to charge 25 cents per sauce and the sauce if you ask for more (it isn't even filled all the way!!!)
To be honest with y'all, if your Peruvian and want authentic Peruvian food I would recommend you go to your mothers house and get a free plate made with love...
