Mary's Diner of Franklin County — Restaurant in Virginia

All I can figure is the people that work there gave the 5 star reviews. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. After waiting 10 minutes to have someone ask what we wanted to drink we thought we should just leave.. always listen to your inner voice..so we finally ordered nothing special just something easy off the menu. Waited another 35 minutes 2 guys who came in 15 minutes behind us were waited on quickly and had their meal brought out while we were still waiting for our meal( and I’ll add they ordered specific items cooked specifically) so paid for our tea and left. Maybe you have to be a regular or maybe you have to be 85 to be served faster not sure but what I do know for sure is I would not recommend this diner to anyone. And the tea I did have tasted funny so I probably missed a good case of indigestion or diarrhea...

I’m writing as I eat, because the food and experience are too good to wait. Mary’s team cooked some take out food for my family tonight. As a mom of two littles, hot meals are few and far between for my husband and I. But tonight was a special treat. We got a hot meal, and ate while my usually very picky children ate every bite, loudly proclaiming “I love all of these things!” I mean, what better review can you get than from the world’s most picky eaters?!?! Mary has curated a menu full of comfort food, special family recipes, and guilty pleasures, all which she serves with a smile. Not only that, but she graciously and humbly shares her talents and meals with the community through different outreach programs. My friend and I thought we’d try Mary’s last night for a casual Saturday night dinner last night. We liked the nice bar and dining area, clean establishment, and very friendly waitstaff. We both ordered a Farmer Fred’s burger with fries and two beverages. However upon getting our burger it was a standard bun, the meat was not fresh or not think at allAs a matter of fact it was no bigger than a coaster and the hamburger came with no onion on it. The fries looked like they were barely cooked ( very blonde) and a bit greasy. Then, as we went to pay the cashier our meal totaled to an astounding $30, which my mouth dropped.
