McDonald's — Restaurant in Virginia

This McDonalds is overall a hot mess on most days. The only time I have ever gotten fast service is first thing in the morning. Otherwise it’s really spotty. I understand that we are a smaller town with not much going on. At the same time, we are a smaller town, a little bit of small town friendliness would be nice. As of lately we have been met with nothing but rudeness “in the box” and talked to as if you have inconvenienced them by coming by. The other night we waited nearly ten minutes before the young man working even acknowledged that there were customers in the drive thru line. Regularly the employees are on their phones - distracted. God forbid you ask for sauce with your meal. That initiates a whole new grumble. The lobby is gross 99% of the time. I’ve witness one of the younger employees lick melted ice cream from his hand when making a cone for someone. My husband and I both find their ability to pass health inspections interesting due to fly traps being hung over top of food preparation areas, the horrific leaking roof when it rains over the drink machines....it goes on.

Most of my opinions of this McDonalds are negative. However, there are a couple employees who are very nice and you can tell that they care about being helpful or brightening your day in whatever little way they can. We get excited when we use this location and they are the voice you hear! I wish I knew...

We all know what McDonalds and know there food, which is better than it used to be, especially if you like coffee, then yes I love the Mccafe line of beverages, and smoothies. plus you'll be happy to know that they usually have a sale item on there drink menu that changes month to month, which gives you a chance to try something new and not spend too much! Then theres the down side to this McDonalds, and its alot that could be better, which is mostly problems that come from there parking area is too small for the traffic that they get, its a dangerous place to park, drive thur and walk thur. The worst times to be there are the usual suspects, breakfast, lunch, and the time period when school lets out, the time you wait in line is usually 10 to 15 minutes with an additional wait of 5 to 10 to get your food, but they have a large dining area so you can almost always find a seat if you want one. If you go to the drive thru then you wait a little longer, like forever, lol, so i wouldn't recommend it if you dont have an hour or more to ensure you get your food and if you arent lucky then it seems that every other time i go to this drive thur then i am asked to pull forward and wait, and the space where you are asked to wait is not very safe, its beside of the 5 lane highway, plus the spot is in the...

Honestly, I really thought this was going to be a bad review but... then there was Brook(e?). What an amazing person to have at the register! When I first entered my order via the mobile app for curb pick up I could see the long drivethru line. I expected the wait. But then 10 minutes went by, then 15, finally 20 minutes and no one in the line. I waited another couple if minutes. Nothing. I went inside, frustrated. I had chosen the curbside so I could complete phone calls while waiting, allowing me to get to my next appointment on time, so the delay was... impactful and I wasn't happy. But then - Brook(e?) immediately came over to see what was wrong. Immediately located my order which had been sitting waiting for someone to carry it out. She confirmed my order. Then, without being asked, called for the order to be remade, waited for it and focused only on that until I had order in hand. It was 90 seconds total! She was pleasant, sweet and in her stride. She put me right back on track and I very much appreciated the effort and her! Customer service isnt about being perfect or the customer being right, its about being accountable and responsive and solving the issue. Thank you,...
