Paradise Ice Cream — Restaurant in Virginia

Stopped here on our drive back to Richmond. As there are limited sweet options in the Springfield area, Yelp finally found a place with funnel cakes which is exactly what I craved.

They offered ice cream, cakes, fried Oreos, funnel cakes. You may be confused finding this place as it’s in a shopping center that looks like an old warehouse area with multiple store fronts. After we found them we come to realize it’s a place where they come to your car. You don’t go outside. It’s not a store or restaurant style setting. You don’t see what you’re getting, you don’t get to look at the cream cream and cakes like traditional style places. They bring you a menu, you order what you want, wait in your vehicle and they bring it to you.

I ordered the Strawberry Cheese and Cake supreme and the strawberry shortcake funnel cake. I’d rate them both 1/5 stars. The cakes was so frozen you couldn’t eat the strawberry part of the cake. The cake part was soft and I’m sure would have tasted great if it paired correctly.

The funnel cake was a no for me!!! First, if you’re going to put topping on a hot item make sure it’s fresh items. The cans strawberries and strawberries juice floating in the bottom of the tray made the whole thing soggy. Try using fresh cut strawberries, a thicker glazed spread with a squirt bottle gracefully not poured on like a cheap food Lion shortcake. It was just lazy!

Wish I could give this place a better review. Maybe if I stopped in their shop the food would be better. Well I ordered on door dash and this is what I experienced.

I ordered the turtle cheesecake, oreo looking cake slice, funnel cake.

Funnel cake had a pancake, which is what is to be expected. Nothing to really write home about. The cake itself wasn't crispy at all. The cake was way too thick. As the batter was poured you can tell it was way too fast. Everything bunched up to make a under cooked thick fried batter. Execution needs to be worked out. The oil that the cake was fried in should be cleaned as well. I tasted an oil that was probably used multiple times at a high temperature.

Cakes overall tasted very artificial.

Turtle cheesecake was very cold in the middle. I think it had to be defrosted. The coconut flavor wasn't welcome. The coconut was very artificial and left a weird/ unpleasant after taste. Freshness and taste is where this dish fell short. The coconut over powered everything.

The oreo cake has many layers but let's be honest...it's a fancy 2 layer cake. The refrigerated taste came in after a few bites. The cake isn't memorable.

Freshness is an issue for me here. The food looks good but doesn't live up to the expectation of my eyes sold me on.

Huge shout out to the awesome team at Paradise Ice Cream! My husband and I were planning to hang out with some close friends we had not seen in months and thought ice cream was a perfect dessert option on a hot Virginia summer day. Paradise is amazing....it was so easy to order ahead on their website and pickup at the expected time. They also offer delivery. This is our second time sampling amazing ice cream from Paradise and we also tried a slice of their chocolate peanut butter cake. Everything is soooo good. The ice cream has that slow churned creaminess and the cake was super moist. I really like the Mint Chocolate Madness, but the chocolate brownie, smoked bacon apple crumble, and key lime pie flavors are delightful as well. The ice cream cookies are also a must try.....oreo or chocolate chip stuffed with one of three awesome ice cream options....you seriously cannot go wrong here. Their team is super friendly and helpful as well. You don't even need to get out of your car....they know when you pull up and come right out to greet you. Definitely give Paradise your business; you won't regret it; you'll just be addicted....lol. Thanks for another great experience; we'll...
