We all got different dishes and loved how tasty they were. The eggplant parmigiana is one of the best I’ve ever had with the thin layers lightly battered. Meatballs appetizer ummm yummy topped with cheese. Grilled chicken breast salad very filling and definitely will get rid of your salad cravings as a meal. Italian house salads we got with the pastas dishes have a slice of cheese and salami and we are greedy with the ranch and Italian dressings. The chicken Florentine is a great alternative to all the regular pasta dishes and he couldn’t finish it all but wanted to is how happy he was with the dish. Pizza we specifically ordered with black olives that I love, the sliced Italian sausage and not the balls which he loved also with mushrooms and onions large thin crust a delicious creation all of us shared.

Business trip or not, Roma Ristorante made me feel like I took a quick detour to Italy. The calamari came out just the way I asked—crispy enough to make Nonna proud, with sauces that kept me dipping. The chicken piccata? Bellissimo. Hot, flavorful, and plated like they knew I was going to brag about it later. And because no Italian meal is complete without something sweet, I left with a cannoli to go—a little box of happiness I wasn’t about to share. The service was spot-on: friendly, attentive, and quick without rushing the meal. If you’re in Sandston and craving real Italian comfort food, this is the spot. Roma makes you want to say, “When in Virginia, do as the Italians do.”

Lackluster experience. Been to this location once or twice before. Have gone because it's close to home. The server was rushed, did not introduce herself. Food is overpriced considering quality. Salad is good. We got bruschetta... Never seen it served as in the picture. It was good, balsamic, mozzarella, basil and tomatoes, but it was warm in spots and cold in others. The bread was slightly toasted and not dressed. Unusual for bruschetta. Never been to a restaurant where I had to assemble my own. Odd. Overall not awful, but nothing to write home about. There are much better Italian restaurants in Richmond.

Roma Ristorante brought more than one surprise that elevated them into rare 5 star territory for me. When researching a restaurant by Richmond International they seemed to be an obvious choice.

Signage was easy to locate them and parking was not an issue on a Monday night. The parking area and walk up were clear of debris.

A hostess greeted my party and immediately seated us in the main dining room with menus. Of note the menus were quality stock. A friendly server arrived for drink orders, I got a glass of house Cabernet. We put in for an appetizer of bruschetta. Our party was seated close to the small bar. The lighting, decoration of bourbon bottle displays and atmosphere was totally on point for me.

They were having a Monday pasta night special which was considered. Ultimately with a long travel day and just arriving from the airport I went big and got the Trio. That's a combo of spaghetti, manicotti and chicken parmigiana. Our waitress warned us all the portions are large. My guest got the Lasagna. Both came with salads and bread. The app was pretty good. The wine was just ok, not sure what their house was. The bread warm and yum.

Food orders hit the table around 30-35 minutes after ordering which was perfect. It allowed plenty of time for the app, bread and salads. The Trio was enormous and lasagna was formidable. Both were enjoyed and half the Trio was put in a to go. I mentioned to the waitress that I was crazy impressed with their bourbon menu. She pointed out that they offer a bourbon tasting night that always sells out and requires reservations.

Desert was up next and they have a nice selection, ultimately the chocolate cake and tiramisu were chosen. They came out within minutes. My tiramisu was nicely portioned, light and flavorful. The chocolate cake was a wow! The close out of the check was smooth. Note they offer a 3.5% cash discount.

As we ate desert the owner Antonio came to our table to thank us for dining with them. He learned from the waitress that I enjoyed bourbon. So we talked probably 10 minutes about his menu and more. I learned he has another location by the same name in Mechanicsville that his brother runs.

Whenever a GM or owner checks on my table the review is elevated. However it's the rare bourbon menu which sealed their fate as a full 5 stars. They offer bottles few restaurants dream of having and the prices are good. Antonio himself a bourbon lover hand picks the collection.

This is a sleeper location so far East of Richmond in Sandston by the airport, but they have their regulars. They have a strong bourbon following which is no surprise. Also they have options for event space. Check them out, I promise you will not be...

1100-11-07-2024 Eating out with good and well travelled friends today; they, a married couple who served the country well for years in Washington, came south from Caroline County and I went north from Colonial Heights.

Arriving at 1100 hours, a full hour before the Noon Business Rush was a good idea, initiated by the Caroline friends. We had an empty dining room to sit in and the waitress was a un-flappable professional lady who knows how to read people very well. She knew exactly how long to wait between visits. Stan and I had Blue Moon beer for our beverage, Sarah had Pepsi. No waters were ordered and we obtained our food picks from the Lunch Menu, which has a fairly large and varied selection.

My house Italian salad and the baked spaghetti were excellent. I will be finishing half of the entree tomorrow night for supper. The table salt and pepper are in grinder dispensers that are easy to operate, giving you fresh seasoning as you wish, and the utensils and napkins are delivered to the table just after the drinks.

Everyone was happy with the food, its freshness, and quality and quantity. One of the best facets of this lunch was how quiet the room is. As we were finishing up with payment work, I looked around and was quite amazed at how many people had come in during our stay, but the noise level was still as low as it had been at 1100. And the clientele most certainly stretched across the socio-age-economic spectrum as well as you could want.

The parking is really more than adequate, primarily because the lot area is in the form of a giant 'U', all the way around the building, with a tier against the wrap-around-sidewalk and a two-sides and rear tier against a curb & privacy fence, making for a nicely cozy and secure environment for the visitors.

I, myself, and hundreds of Henrico County employees in all branches and levels, came into this establishment and ordered take-out in the early days of Fauci's Lockdown Madness. There is a good probability that our patronage kept the lights on here during those dark times. Thank those people for their essential services for and in our community, and to our Free and Wonderful Country, whenever you have a...
