This pizza place is only a couple miles down the road from my house and for years I passed by it but never ate there. Big mistake on my part, lol. Just ate here for the first time last night and am very impressed with the quality of pizza and good service. I have eaten pizza at 5-7 pizza places in this exact area of VA and while they all were great, I must say this place gives many of them a run for their money and is the best place I’ve had pizza at so far in this specific area for the price. At all the other places, their pizzas were good, but the cheese didn’t have a fresh flavor as close a you’d get to making your own. Maybe there is another place around here that has that but haven't found it as of yet. So very good quality cheese. They also put more cheese on than some or the other places I’ve eaten at, which is nice. The sauce seems good quality too. Ingredients taste fresh and the pizza isn’t greasy, which I LOVE. It’s clean and non-greasy. I tried adding fresh basil to it for the first time and MY OH MY, now I know why they add it to their pizzas in Italy. I had no idea how one herb added can improve the taste so much (not that it isn’t already good without it, because it surly is.) I actually ordered two large cheese veggie pizza (swapped the broccoli for jalapeño peppers) and added basil to it. Ate both for myself. I don’t think I’ll order pizza without fresh basil added to it ever again. I highly recommend trying it if you love basil and I highly recommend this place. I also love how it’s nice and quiet and not loud. Very nice atmosphere. Will be coming back and will be a regular here...
Read moreSpent $70 for 3 pizzas. This was my first time trying this place. Was hoping for that classic NY pizza, boy was I disappointed. I ordered 2 pepperoni and a specialty pizza. Pepperoni was blah, edible, but NOT New York. However, my biggest issue was how they prepared the specialty pizza. It's loaded with toppings but they cover it with a thick layer of cheese. GROSS! Such an AMMATURE screw up! I had a soggy pizza with toppings not cooked because of the thick layer of cheese dumped on too.
Incredibly overpriced Dumfries pizza, NOT NY PIZZA! You should be ashamed of your restaurant.
Covering your pizza toppings with cheese is generally considered bad practice because it can prevent the toppings from cooking evenly, potentially leading to undercooked vegetables or burnt cheese, and can also make it difficult for the flavors of the toppings to fully develop; the ideal method is to spread the cheese as a base layer under most of the toppings, allowing them to cook properly and interact with the sauce.
Key reasons why cheese should be under toppings:
Even cooking:
When cheese is on top, it can act as a barrier, preventing the heat from reaching the toppings underneath, potentially leading to undercooked vegetables or meat.
Flavor distribution:
Placing toppings on top of the cheese allows them to better mix with the sauce and develop their own unique flavors.
Preventing sliding toppings:
A layer of cheese underneath helps hold toppings in place, preventing them from sliding off...
Read moreThis has been a go to pizza place of mine for about a year now. They mediocre food but it is only 2 miles from my home so very convenient. We decided to order delivery today and was given a 30 to 45 minute time at 420pm. Well by 530 we still had not gotten food so called and asked where it was and told it would be there any minute. 20 minutes later still no food. Call and told they would call right back after contacting driver. No call. 20 minutes later call back to cancel the order and go pick something else up. Get put on hold for 15 minutes with no sign of anyone picking it back up. Hang up, call back to I guess the owner answer since he said this is Tony. Tell him to cancel and get put on hold again. No apologies ever given for delay, no offer to compensate, and walk into the establishment to cancel my food while still on hold to find the guy at the counter not on the phone but just talking to co-workers. Horrible customer service. Lost about 50 dollars a week from me...
