I will try to put what my taste buds experienced into words: Freaking awesome! Samosas: savory and sweet. Delicious. Well presented. Well cooked. Huge, relative to others I've had. Tilka masala - lamb: a bit sweet. Medium heat. Great texture! Flavor was outstanding š Curry - goat: medium heat. Honestly, not the best curry I've had. HOWEVER, it was sort of a combination of curry and fricassee; this is the best way I can explain it, and I've had lots of each. My taste buds identified it as a sort of hybrid - one bite felt like fricassee, the other felt more like curry. It was weird, but.. I will return for more! Goat meat was exquisitely tender, fat was rendered properly, and flavor was on point! Just being picky here: heat was a BIT, just a touch over medium (or tikka masala was a bit below medium?) and it was a bit too oily. But HOLY GOAT, it is amazing. I look forward to having the leftovers tonight! I had a chickpea dish as appetizer that I forgot the name to, along with the samosas. It had three flavors of chickpeas in it, which was very interesting! If it had a serving of rice, it could have been a meal onto itself! One side had the chickpeas a bit too hot, but when combined with the center flavor (sweet potato I think), it balanced well. I never got to the other side; my wife ate it all. š Cheese and spinach naan could have had more spinach and was a bit greasy, but it helped cut through the heat and was quite delicious. I closed it out with a rice pudding or something, on a recommendation by the staff. That one was a bit bland. It had a nice texture and I liked the almond bits. I wish it had honey or a bit more sweet flavor, but it was still good. It was a nice, simple, and delicious way to close out our three-course meal. Now: SERVICE was fast, courteous, patient, and overall great. My only regret is that I just realized I left too little tip š I meant to leave cash as well but forgot, thinking of the amazing gastronomic experience. (Sorry, y'all)

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to the White Tiger restaurant yesterday to try this restaurant with all the five-star reviews. It was very disappointing and definitely did not live up to its five star status. The goat Curry was the best item I ordered but still did not have a great complexity of flavor or depth of flavor as many other Indian restaurants with only four star ratings. The sweet Lassie that I had was very disappointing with a lack of yogurt base and sweetness. And the garlic flavored nan that was recommended so highly by the waiter was a complete disaster. There was no softness at all with the nan, it was like eating cardboard and there was no garlic flavor whatsoever either. Having a great Lassie and great nan with your Indian meal is vitally important and when those two items are off the whole entire meal is off. So to call white tiger Indian restaurant a five-star is definitely incorrect, I just want to set this measure right, this restaurant is a four-star restaurant at best and most likely really just a 3 1/2 Star. I eat at Indian restaurants every day across Richmond and there are many other better options for people to try namely Taste of India, Anokha, Pakwan, and Janant to name just a few that deliver better quality and better consistency. And white tiger is not the low price leader either, most of the other restaurants mentioned are a little bit less expensive as well, another disappointing feature. If you're going to have the higher prices then you have to deliver better quality food. I consider myself an Indian food connoisseur because I have eaten so much of it, and was really hoping that this restaurant would have impressed me enough to want to come back unfortunately I will not be coming back, I will be sticking with my usual other "truly" fantastic Indian restaurants...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTL;DR a nice place with very good Indian food that's suitable for families
The location is more of a modern setting with 2, 4, 6 and bar seating and Indian (mostly Punjabi) music playing.
The service is quick and efficient with very polite staff. They had good recommendations.
The food was authentically Indian in flavor with plenty of options leaning mostly towards North Indian cuisine. The menu also included a few fusion dishes (which I did not try and cannot vouch for). There were plenty of vegetarian options as well. Recommendation for the Kadai Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, and Chicken Korma. The lamb biryani was pretty good too. A slight negative was that the dishes were slightly under salted.
Please note: their spice scale is an Indian spice scale. So medium is what I'd recommend for most and still has the heat.
The drink options had a few standard cocktails but also had some fusion cocktails. Highly recommend the Mango Lassi Pinacolada. There were plenty of Indian mocktails too. Recommendation for the Rooafza with Milk.
Parking is available outside but not a lot. The location is a little awkward with a one way circle around it.
Overall an easy recommendation if you enjoy Indian food and I'll be making...
