First visit today, for breakfast, based on good reviews. Old school diner atmosphere. Food was o.k.but not special - we'd return maybe (foodwise) but not go out of our way or make a special trip. Employees were very nice. A major problem, though, was sanitation/cleaning standards! First issue was no one cleaned or sanitized our booth table before or after we sat down. There were rings from glasses from the previous customers still on the table and a tip. (We used hand sanitizer and napkins to clean it ourselves.) I then watched one young man handle many tasks. First noticed him sweeping-up something from the floor with a broom and hand-held dustpan. Then, saw him bussing tables and touching dirty plates, glasses, and utensils, with his bare hands. Fine, but next saw him delivering coffee and drinks to customers' tables without washing his hands! This was repeated several times. Then, just before we left, I saw him at the counter packing clean utensils into the paper bags they use to put on the tables - STILL without washing his hands or wearing gloves from his earlier tasks! He was touching the food surfaces of the knives and forks as he packed them - with the same bare hands he had recently had on dirty plates and dishes! Had I seen this earlier, we would have left w/o eating. The county healtth inspectors would certainly cite them, and maybe shut the place down until corrected; it was so blatantly dangeeous in spreading disease and germs.
Update: Thanks for the response. We live 40 miles away but maybe we'll stop in again and see next time we're in the area. Trust me, my review was factual. I would have taken some video if I thought I'd be writing a review :) We were seated in the booth on the right as you enter - directly across from the open part of the counter leading to the back. I think it's a little narrower than all the other booths??? That's why we saw all the activity. Rhe young man was working hard; just not following standard sanitary practices and no one, ither than me, was obviously...
Read moreCame here on Saturday morning with my dad. He was in town visiting me from Los Angeles and fell in love with Scrapple last time. So when he looks up a restaurant selling it, he found this one. I would give this location 5 stars but reason I give it 4 was because the biscuits were mediocre. Didn’t really taste like anything and the country fried Steak didn’t taste like it was seasoned even though it had a boat load of gravy on top. However, the potato’s were to die for! So delicious and I gave the scrapple a try too and it was great. I’m sure there are more tasty options on the menu but I’m rating based on what I ordered.
Now to speak on the customer service, I was seriously blown away. We were immediately greeted, sat down, and introduced to our waitress. Both the woman who fixed up our table and gave us a menu, as well as the waitress, were incredibly kind. It is very rare to have numerous employees on a busy Saturday morning having time to have conversation and provide quality service. I wish I got their names because they were great. At check out, we made our way to the register and my dad spoke to 2 men. Again, both incredibly kind and patient with my dad (he talks a lot lol).
Lastly, the atmosphere. The tables are pretty close together but not an uncomfortable close. The restaurant itself is on the older side but it feels welcoming, as if you’re meant to be there. Because Christmas is also around the corner, I noticed the small decor around to give it some holiday cheer.
Overall, I think this restaurant is worth trying and I would definitely come back to try some more.

Read moreEdit: We just had lunch here and met one of the new owners. They are off to a great start. The new ownership is trying to keep things the way they've been for decades and is even learning from the original owners. We were all worried, but it's still the same great place it's always been. Oh, and the Top Hat sandwich was amazing.
My family has been coming to Yorkshire Restaurant for nearly 30 years. I remember when the country fried steak (my go to) was as big as the fairly large plates. Their motto is still: good food, good atmosphere, and good portions.
This place gets 5 stars for several reasons. The food is pretty good. I've always enjoyed their country fried steak, but we've had their omelets and waffles and also not been disappointed. A really neat thing about YR is the back dining area. You seldom see it, unless it's a super busy day, but it's an old jail or similar. Really cool to sit back there.... just don't try to use the bathrooms (soooo tiny). They do a spaghetti dinner fundraiser with the Volunteer fire department across the street, which is another big positive to them.
Biggest reason for 5 stars though? The current manager (owner?) is an amazing man. My mom died in July, and he gave my dad a couple of vouchers for meals so that when we needed it, we could come in and get some home cooking without worrying about costs. That was and will always be so very...
