Totally awesome experience over all! I moved to the Wisconsin area after living in Montana for 26 years. One of the things I have always loved about the Mississippi River area is the hidden gems that lie in the most quaint towns. Wabasha, Minnesota is one of the those. Slipperies is tucked up next to the river at the end of the road and from the outside, appears to be unimpressive....but WOW! From the view, to the outstanding staff, the delicious food and the overall atmosphere this place made my day. A friend and I were trying to figure out what to do on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and we decided to take the 60 mile drive over to Wabasha and give it a try. We couldn't have asked for a more awesome experience. It was busy when we arrived and we kind of wondered how this was going to work. Let me inject here that I had read the reviews from 5 star down to 1 star and really wanted to form my own opinion. When we arrived the very polite hostess explained that there was going to be a wait, as to how long, she was unsure but she invited us to go out to the patio and listen to the music while we waited. She gave us a paging buzzer and off we went. What an awesome experience. The musician was fantastic and the view was perfect! Boats going up and down the river and docking. The people were fantastic. Before we knew it, our pager was buzzing and we were seated at a table on the dock. The hostess was so apologetic for the "wait". Are you kidding? It was perfect. We had time for one drink and the music was great before being seated. We were handed a menu and then the decision making process began. What to try? Everything looked great. I might add that the menu has such a variety of great food tastes that depict the Mississippi River area. The waitress gave her favorite suggestions and we each ordered something different to get a feel for it. We were very impressed. My friend ordered the batter fried Walleye sandwich and I ordered the prime rib sandwich. Totally impressed AGAIN! Best walleye ever and the prime rib was lean, yet moist and so tasty right down to the last bite. We finished our meal, visited the gift shop and sat back down on the patio to continue listening to the relaxing music and soak in the view some more. This wasn't just a dining experience, this was a great afternoon experience over all. Even the "strangers" on the patio became almost like a group of friends that you just happen to meet up with in a very special place. We will be going back! If you are inclined to read reviews and tend to rule things out based on a few negative comments that were made by people who are just NEGATIVE people, you really need to give it a try and form you own opinion. Slipperies is a GEM and we can't say enough great things about it. You need...

First time to Slippery's and the last. First of all, we were seated next to the door that led out to the patio. The door banged constantly with people going in and out. How about a slow-close pump on the door? Service was absolutely terrible. We sat down and placed our order. The restaurant was quiet. We sat for 50 minutes without the food or the waitress coming back to the table after bringing our initial soft drinks. When I finally made eye contact with the waitress, she came over and I asked about the food. She said, in reference to the kitchen, "...they are just being slow." That's interesting, since I am watching people who came in after us getting their food. The truth is always best...and would have been appreciated. We decided to leave and walked up to the bar and explained to the bartender that we could no longer wait for our food. The bartender said he understood and would let them know. The waitress did bring us two fountain colas and I asked the bartender how much they were and he said $2.50 each. Really??? For fountain drinks? Anyway, I paid the $5.00 for the drinks and we left. You would have thought anyone with any type of business sense would have said to forget the drinks or let me get the manager. Nope. On the way home, we stopped at Kings in Miesville where we were waited on promptly, food came quickly, and we paid $1.00 each for fountain colas. And I should note that Kings was busy. I will definitely stop at Kings when we travel to Winona again. Thanks Slippery's for helping...

I went here over the summer with some friends and I feel like our group was treated poorly. It felt like the server was upset about something that was happening and took it out on us by not coming to take our order, not coming to give us water, not coming to refill our drinks, not checking on us– the list goes on. There were multiple points throughout our time at the restaurant where we had to track our server down because she was avoiding us. We would wave our server down and make eye contact, however, she would walk in the other direction. The few times our server did make it to our table, she had an attitude and was constantly rolling her eyes as we were putting in our orders, asking for our drinks, asking for our correct orders, etc., we all felt that was really rude.

It definitely felt like she was overwhelmed. My group was patient and enjoying each other’s company, however, when the food finally came out a handful of us were missing our food, either had cold food, or the wrong order... so sitting there trying to get somebody to help us fix this took some time and was frustrating. There was a table near us that was having some issues of their own (they were being very vocal about it), and we thought maybe that might have contributed to how she was acting toward us- not that that makes it ok. The fact that we had to track other servers down or continuously go to the bar to correct our food, get water, and pay the bill was disappointing. We had a server who...

The Mississippi River River and surrounding area veiws make this place great to visit watching the eagles fly!, The food is good that's true , me and my dad met a for dinner there on a Wednesday not overly busy , but as I've experienced in many small town barsif they don't recognize you , you will not be a priority for the staff it's true what a lot of these refuse said the staff is unfriendly they don't smile, and kinda of almost a rude. but they do get friendly if you leave a decent tip hopefully they don't always seem this rude there but our experience was pretty good it did take them a while to bring her food out but like I said it's a small town place and they didn't recognize us.

I had the Walleye sandwich and pork nachos. Both were very good! Nice atmosphere, right on the water. Great service!

Very cute restaurant with a great location. They have ample outdoor seating to watch the boats along the River and a large dock. The food was not as good as I had hoped but I will definitely try it again sometime to see if it’s changed. They also have a lot of old menu items on previous reviews so make sure to check their website for the current menu as many things are no longer available. The spaghetti was decent but the shrimp tacos were poorly seasoned and had a lot of cheese that didn’t blend well with the cabbage and crema.
