I recently visited Cook's pizza, and sat there while hubby was in a meeting across the street, at the town hall. The ambience is of an old american diner but the layout restricts the capacity of seating to probably 20-25 people. They only accept cash or checks, so if you wish to try out this place, make sure you're equipped. The short review would be pizza was good 4 stars, ambience 3.5 stars and service 3.5 stars. If you'd like to know more, read on...
I ordered one large pepperoni pizza, coz i intended to take my side pepperoni out (coz I'm a vegetarian). Along with that, I ordered a root beer float, fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks. I also got ranch dip for the mushrooms and marinara for the sticks. While everything was to go, I asked for the root beer float to be given once it's ready because I didn't know how long I had to honestly sit there till hubby's meeting got over. I was quite happy with the root beer float, and after seeing some reviews about their ice cream, I really liked it's taste and texture. It was good, not unique or exceptional...
I believe my ordered was done in about 15-20minutes... And then I just stayed there enjoying my drink and reading a book for atleast another 30min. No one bothered me or anything, at times it would get really loud be aise of customers eating or waiting for their pizza, but you can see from a 4yr old to an 80+yrs old there, which I really liked. It's right at the main downtown intersection and I could see the really cool pumpkin tree from my window:) another thing I could see was a type of bee-fly type of insect inside that stood on the window for as long as I remember. It was hard not to stare at it, just incase it came at me ( for some random reason). They also had a baseball match going on in the background and customers who sat on the bar stools (three in number) could easily watch that. Me, not so much.
So, we didn't have the stuff till we got home, and I reheated the pizza in my oven, just to keep the texture same. It's funny how many slices there were on one 16-18inch... If you see the pics, you can probably count, I'd guess 20... They were thin and easy to hold... They had pepperoni not just on top but also in between the cheese layers, which made it harder to pick out, but no issue. My hubby enjoyed 60% pizza the same night, and I probably had 20%. The left overs were next day's lunch.
If you like mushrooms, you may like the fried version. The coating was thick and seasoned. Mozzarella sticks were good as well. Nothing special about the dips. The service was nice but it was funny when I was ordering, person calculated on how much to pay but never shared the receipt. So I actually don't know how the taxes and stuff was added. There is no wifi, and plenty of street parking available. Overall, a good family run business. Try this place out if you're in town and if you liked my review, please...
Read moreNot from this charming town, just passing. Decided to order to go because restaurant was dirty and cramped. Menus onsite all listed differing options for sale, requiring several questions before making a simple order (Window menu, written menu in store, and printed menu at counter, all different). Asked about Stromboli since only âpizza breadâ was on the first menu we saw. It was described by the waitress as being a baked pocket of pizza dough (traditional Stromboli). This was verified by the manager sitting nearby. Ordered a shake and Stromboli, specifying no onion or green peppers, and was given 25 minute wait before pickup, so enjoyed a little walk around the quilt garden and playground across the street. At pickup time they had forgotten to make the shake, adding another 5+ minutes, no biggie. Asked manager about Sweet Gâs ice cream, to order some while waiting for the rest of our stuff, and she had no idea how to get ingredients for allergy check and seemed irritated by the question even though they werenât busy and sheâd been sitting there for presumably 30 minutes by then sipping her can of soda. Got the shake and headed out. 10 minutes later, on the road home, discover a sandwich of French bread inside instead of Stromboli, complete with the peppers and onions I asked them to leave off. It was not a good experience in any way. Wouldnât go again or...
Read moreCalled to order a pizza. When they answered the phone it was with, "hello". I had no idea if it was Cook's Pizza, so I asked. "Yeah, it's Cook's, I guess I have should have said that", she said. I commented, "yes, you should have." When I picked up the pizza the young man rang it up and said it would be "23 bucks.". I gave him $25. He pulled a dollar bill out, and started getting some coins. I asked if he was short on ones ... he said no. I said, "then I'd rather have 2 ones instead of a bunch of change. He looked at me and said, "but it was $23.11". "No, you told me 23 bucks." (he didn't say twenty three dollars either time, it was "bucks") I couldn't understand what he told me after that, something about just telling me 23 bucks but it was more than that. Obviously they had not been trained properly ... I paid, left and went home. When we opened the pizza box, it looked like a pizza we had bought frozen at the grocery store, vegetables on the pizza were barely cooked, lots of white cheese, no flavor. I am sorry but I really feel the owners need to know these things if they want to continue to stay in business. It was the second time we've tried the pizza since the change in owenership - I am so sorry to say, we probably will...
