Serafino's Restaurant — Restaurant in Wallingford

I thought hard and clear about writing this review. Here goes. I take my wife out for a great lunch on Sundays after church every weekend. We decided Serafino's. Nice place, looks high end so we expected top quality cuisine. My wife's selections in appetizers and entrains were fine. My entry was Veal layered with eggplant and sauce. After my second bite I realized the Veal was spoiled. It taste was sour, bitter and slimy. Honestly, it was pretty bad. The restaurant just opened and we were the first customers. I broke my rule on dinning out that prevents this sort of event. My rule I had broken is, Don't be the first customer at a restaurant because you will be given the old saved food from the night before. But this wasn't the issue. For the Veil to be that rotten and spoiled had to be saved for quite some time. How could such a professional cook not know the food in his kitchen was not fresh? Serafino's has a mastery of food preparation and the cook is very good as the dish was delicious. Quite honestly I am pretty upset that I was fed spoiled food and consumed it. I'm pissed!! I can't believe I actually paid for my wife's lunch while knowing my lunch was destroyed. I just didn't want to over react and be disrespectful. I feel like a fool. Thanks...

We went on Sunday night for my daughter's birthday dinner. It was my daughter, myself and a few guests. We have been there a few times for lunch and it was great. This night was a special night because my daughter chose to have her birthday dinner there. First off the waitress made us VERY uncomfortable because we mentioned that we had a coupon from Facebook that we were able to use before. The waitress then asked WHO let you use the coupon, what day was it, what did the waitress look like, what color was her hair, was she heavy set. I was Soo embarrassed! We waited over an hour for our food. My mom's food was dry and they brought my daughter the wrong food and she waited about 10 minutes for her dish. Everyone's food was cold because we didn't want to start eating in front of her. We were never asked if we wanted more to drink, if we needed anything. When leaving, I signed the receipt for my credit card I chose not to give a tip because I left a cash tip, the waitress looks at the receipt and sees I didn't leave a tip on my card and says "Was Everything ok"? I said "yeah, I left you a cash tip on the table", she's said "oh, ok". Again embarrassing!!!! My daughter said she doesn't want to go...

Although the Owner only seems to respond to good reviews, this was my/our experience: Friends invited me for a late Lunch and it was my first experience here. There were only 3 tables in the bar area when we arrived and still the service was very poor and chaotic at best. Staff seemed confused and discombobulated. Not sure if they were short staffed. We had to repeatedly ask for water and cocktails (even then, I understand the Mojitos were not very good). While waiting for our salads/soup, the server came back and said the soup selection had now changed (?). 3 of our Entrees were pretty good, however, the 4th needed to be remade as it was not as ordered (and the server made a point to say she had given the correct order to the kitchen - ?). The order was still incorrect the second time around. My friend decided to eat it rather than wait again, and the rest of us were done with our meals. Then we had to ask repeatedly for to go containers and no bag was offered. I was surprised about this experience after what I had heard about the Restaurant. And I felt bad for my friends who were excited to bring me here. Since then, have heard about some other poor experiences others have...
