Island House — Restaurant in Walnut Township

Guess the Honeymoon Phase is over: This place seemed so wonderful. Just don't go there on a busy day, ya know, like a sunlit weekend. When we arrived they were busy but we found a table, its a seat yourself place, I like that. And I like making myself at home there. I didn't mind that we didn't see the waitress much or that I went inside myself to get sauce for the shrimp and a fork because I could see they were very busy and like I said, I felt at home. Trouble arose when we wanted to leave, couldn't find our waitress, asked another waitress to help, 15 mins went by so we went inside to track down our waitress who ran up to a register and said how sorry she was (keep in mind we haven't really seen her since we ordered the food) that she had been stuck inside. Gave her our credit card and stood by while she handed it a cashier who was already behind on ringing out orders so we watied patiently while our waitress went OUTSIDE (funny, we hadn't seen her there is what, 40 mins) and she didn't come back. So about 10 misn went by before we turned to ask the lady who had our creidt card "did you ring that out yet" - she said we needed our waitress and when we said we coudn't find her she said with every ounce of attitude she could muster "ya, well she's probably looking for you at your table". So after all my patience and attempts at good graces I had enough. I made an effort to explain calmly why I was offended and was only met with eyerolls so I asked for the manager and found he had been standing right there the entire time at the bar. Wow, I have really been missing out on some amazing food! First time at the Island House and we decided to start with the Island Sweet wings and waffle fries. Now I am a traditional, Buffalo sauce wing girl but this sauce…yummy is all I have to say! Finger licking good! (Sorry KFC) The waffle fries are deliciously salty with a few extra seasonings. For our meal, we shared the crab cake dinner and tacos. I know I have already said it BUT WOW!!!! Gotta have the crab cakes….with a side of chicken tacos! It was such a perfect match! The crab cakes are to die for! Something to ponder Pappy…maybe an appetizer of mini crab cakes! The atmosphere and weather were perfect. You can dine in, at the bar or outside. Got a beer at bar, paid for it with cash. Sat down at table in deck had to waive somone down to help us 15 minutes later. She asked if we paid tab at bar, we paid cash. She'll get us menus, someone else comes, you paid your tab at bar, yes, we paid cash. She leaves the menus and walks away. Comes back and says you paid your tab at bar, now youre out here and want food. I say um, she replies "i can come back, i have a 1000 other places to be". You just got here 5 seconds ago and were talking when you got to the table about a tab we didnt have again, and then then is telling us shes leaving because i said um 3 seconds later. 2 stars, live music good....
