Captain Jay's Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Warren

I placed an order online at 4:45 PM which said my food would be ready between 5:00 - 5:10 PM. When I arrived, I told them I placed an order online and told them the name it was under. It was quite busy and there were two employees working up a front (the register and the drive thru) and two in the back. For some reason, one of the people up front eventually went to the back and it appeared as if she was just talking while the girl up front was slammed. I saw what I thought was my food come out around 5:10 PM but no one did anything with it. I asked about my order twice and both times they said "Let me check" and did nothing. I watched them grab the tab for the order, look at it, then walk away. The hot food portion of my order was complete, I just needed my sides and sauces. They could have had me out by 5:10 PM. After seeing my food sit there (uncovered) for 15 minutes, I finally pointed to my food asking "Is that my order?" It still took another 5-10 minutes for them to finish it since the girl up front kept starting and stopping her work, going from working on finishing my order to doing something else. When I thought it was done, she asked if I wanted the ranch that I paid for. When I said yes she said, "The ranch is in the back. Do you want me to get it?" Yes, since I paid for it. However, instead of getting it, she starts walking around doing other things to the point another customer says to her at least three times, "Stop what you are doing and just get her ranch." This customer eventually shouted to the people in the back to get my ranch since it was just getting ridiculous. I also discovered that they keep the mac and cheese in the cooler, so it is cold. She asked if I wanted her to heat it up and I could not imagine how much longer that would take, so I said no. It took a total of 45 minutes for me to get my order simply because they did not seem to have a clue what they were doing. While I was there, another customer was in a similar situation unable to leave since she was never given her drink. She asked multiple times just to get a cup and said she would do it herself. I ordered 10 piece perch and fries. I was told it would be 20 minutes. I arrived in under 20 minutes since I was in the parking lot when I called in my order. I stay a few blocks away and when I arrived home the fries were cold not lukewarm but cold which let me know they were not cooked fresh with my food order; whereas the fish was hot. However there was nothing fresh about the fish, in fact the fish was actually spoiled!!!!! I initially thought maybe they just half cooked it…WRONG!!!! I knew I wasn’t able to return back at that time so I tried to see if I microwave it will it cook it completely. WRONG!!! Not only was the inside still slimy it increased the foul odor. This was very upsetting since this was supposed to be dinner. I called and spoke with the manager and she only seemed concerned about remaking the fish and never acknowledged my displeasure regarding the poor quality of cold fries. The manager offered to remake the fish for the next day since I was unable to return the same day. I called the next day and the manager stated they were out of perch and offered to make a different type of fish which I declined since I wanted what I ordered. So now I’m finally going to get it replaced on 2 days after my original order. I advise the clerk to tell the covering manager on today that I will need fresh fries made since I still have the order fries that I never touched since there was nothing to eat with them. Overall my experience was not good, but the managers are trying to make my fish order right. (7-30-25) I stopped here after work I ordered 2 cod, mac n cheese and a medium fry. (MY FIRST TIME HERE EVER) I was told it would be 10min. I WAITED 20! (Drive through window) Finally after receiving the food I placed on passenger seat started driving and the bag of food had a awful pungent smell. I can't stress how awful. When I got home I opened the food $4 for a med fry and I got maybe 10 fries! It wasn't even full. The mac and cheese was awful no taste what so ever and the noodles were mushy and soggy. Overcooked? I do not know!? And the cod! I definitely say it was rotten , expired ? I took a little bite to try it the most awful taste and left a nasty after taste. Oooo and the smell! This was my first time definitely my last time!. I literally just threw $17 and some change in the trash! Very dissatisfied and even more disappointed that I thought I was picking up dinner, just to throw it away and run out and spend more money to grab a pizza. This food deserves 0 stars.
