I usually have always avoided going to this specific location because it's hard to get into being on the corner of Van Dyke and the 696 service drive, and it all honesty, I let my mind get the best of me by assuming that this location probably wouldn't be the best location to go to since they're connected to the gas station and are probably usually busy and deal with a lot of rude customers that probably makes it hard for the workers to stay positive (worked in food customer service and I know that exact feeling) So I always just avoided that location. Anyways, the other day I decided to give it a chance and unfortunately my biases that I had towards the place were correct. I ordered a medium mocha latte which is usually a simple, easy go-to drink that's always delicious and I've never had an issue with it before, but unfortunately when I took a sip of it, it was extremely bitter. I was watching when the cashier was making my drink and usually you can see them making your espresso but I just saw her poor and already made carafe of espresso into the cup which I thought was weird before she added the other ingredients but I didn't really think much of it. But once I took that first sip and it was that bitter I knew it had to have been either. Overcooked espresso or that the espresso was sitting out for too long. I hate confrontation SOOO much so it took a lot for me to walk back in but I built up the courage to go in and extremely apologetically and nicely explain to the worker that my drink tasted very bitter and I've never had this issue before with this exact drink at other locations and I was wondering if there's any way she could please possibly fix it or make me a new drink maybe if possible (and probably apologizing for being an inconvenience and saying sorry too many times to count lol) but I was deep down hoping they would remake it (which is what I was hoping for and what other coffee places usually do) but instead she just looked at me with a weird smirk on her face that was so incredibly strange or like she was thinking of something else or staring out the window behind me or daydreaming lol or something im not really sure lol. So I watched her take the lid off my cup that already had my straw on it. Pour milk into my cup and put the existing lid that my straw is already in back on top of the cup and hand it to me. I was already feeling super awkward and didn't know what to say. And honestly, a little bit shocked that she didn't use a new lid, which I know I'm probably sounding like a "Karen" right now. But I worked in the food industry for a large part of my life and especially with all the issues going around with foodborne illnesses, ya know? I know the companies are stressing to their workers about sanitation. By then I could tell my face was getting red and redder from embarrassment so I just said thank you very much and just took the drink and walked out wishing them a great day. Moral of the story. DO NOT GO TO THE DUNKIN at 696 SERVICE DRIVE/11 MILE & VAN DYKE! All the other ones are...
Read moreLocal Dunkin' Donuts owner has taken upon themselves to write up bogus charges on receipts.
I requested one large cold brew coffee with no ice and cold foam plus the two Donuts. Yet there's four items on my receipt. I learned from another Dunkin' Donuts a few months back at 12 Mile and Dequindre that it is common practice now if you don't want ice and thus they can't fill up your drink with the ice to reduce dispensing the product, they actually charge you for no ice.
I suspect this Dunkin' Donuts is owned by the same person or maybe in the family or something. Because they have it worded differently but last I checked it is a really scandalous way to treat your customers when I'm probably into minority of requesting no ice.
The number one reason I am making this post which I rarely bother making any post and I do stress the word rarely. This is maybe the third Post in 3 years? Anyhow, is because I've had enough cold brew coffees with cold from to realize that it should not be 3 inches of cold foam to try to make the cup look full because I decided to not have ice.
So not only did they hit me up for 50 cents which I don't feel they were entitled to but then they gave a ridiculous layer of cold foam.. it just feels like the quality that most of us was used to at so many things before covid died with covid.
Lastly, they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me hey we're going to charge you 50 cents for no ice.. they just click the button and gave me a total and went about their day like no big deal. And I couldn't see anything on the menu inside the building stating that drinks requested no ice will be charged additional.. blah blah blah so, I guess taking the ethics class was not something required to run a Dunkin' Donuts.
Lastly, for those of you that are going to probably say I'm whining about something small, you're right. It is small. 50 Cents isn't going to kill me or break me but when they have to go about acquiring it in such a dishonest way that's what irks me. At least if they told me I could have requested they make sure I get the full drink that I'm paying the extra 50 cents for instead of an extra thick layer of cold foam that's going to evaporate and leave my drink 2 in empty by the time I drink it for my midnight shift tonight.
So, have a great afternoon folks. As much as I love to say I will respond to any critiques, I probably won't so if you're hoping to provoke one, just know you might be wasting your time. C'est la vie!
A small update for my original post above, once I walked the drink in the house and put it in the fridge like I intended for my night shift, all that foam you saw in the photo? Gone. I paid 50 cents extra for air. I guess we have to pay for that...
Read moreSo I order breakfast w an iced cappuccino, probably a staple in the Dunkin' donuts world and I'm handed an ice coffee which is an understandable mistake. Anyway I go back in and see 2 gents in line, 1 for an order which he waited to long so he left which is whatever. The other for a 5$ bill bec he got a hand full of quarters at the window as change worth 5$
Mod makes contact , I say this is not an iced cappuccino this is a iced coffee which is about a $2 difference in price. The MOD promptly takes my drink and begins to remake a different one. ......I was asked if I wanted it blended....🚩........ Takes about 2 minutes blended it not very well as seen by the picture but I'm excited for my drink. On the 2nd attempt this is not an iced cappuccino ....and it was made by your MOD. The girl working the counter was a sweetheart and it's forgivable to make a simple switch but when the MOD corrects the order and hands you something completely opposite of the original order.... That borderlines business interests..... And by business interests I mean as a person who's addicted to coffee I don't think I'll be going back to this location and unfortunately my only other Dunkin' donuts is 6 miles away so it's more of a luxury trip than it is in necessity. This throws the training issue into question as well. If MOD lacks knowledge on the product how can it be trained correctly for consistency?
I hate to ask this but please fix your store it is a disservice to the community to to have an MOD who does not know your flagship drink or how to make it correctly.
I got home and opened my avocado toast and it's bread .......with avocado spread on it it's not toasted .... i cant retoast it....so I don't understand the rush considering nobody was in the store. Also I'm out 2$ for no reason bec I...
