This is one mudd puddle that is okay for adults to play in.
As I was driving home from a Wisconsin trip in late 2024, I just so happened to drive by The Mudd Puddle and made a mental note to try and check it out at my first opportunity. That opportunity finally presented itself and here we are, discussing it.
Emily and I dropped in on a sunny Saturday afternoon, both of us needing coffee before we headed to Evergreen Farm Brewing for a few drinks and some sunshine. What used to be a bank is now The Mudd Puddle. It’s in a cute little building that has a walk-up window, a drive-thru window, and an interior for ordering. We ordered from the inside area. It’s a small area with a few places to sit so if it’s busy, you’ll need to maybe sit outside in the back area or take it to go.
Emily got a gingergread special and I got an iced caramel latte. There was only one barista working so it took 5-10 minutes to make our drinks while she also worked the drive-thru and walk-up window. She did a great job of balancing it all! We took our drinks outside and sat at this little table while soaking up the sun.
In my iced caramel latte, I got oatmilk due to being lactose intolerant (something I am trying to be more conscientious of as I get older). The first few sips were just okay since the caramel and oatmilk flavor didn’t blend the best together but once I got used to the mix, I really started to enjoy it. Emily was in love with her gingerbread drink. I took a small sip of it and it was really good. It was on their Valentine’s Specials so it might be gone before too long.
We spent about 30 minutes outside before heading to our next destination. I was really glad we got to drop in and get some coffee from here. They do have soft serve ice cream, too, but neither of us were in the mood for it. I’m not sure how long The Mudd Puddle has been here but I am glad to have tried it and I hope it becomes a staple for Washburn. Small towns really need that local mom-n-pop coffeehouse to keep the community energized and caffeinated.
Until the next coffeehouse review… Stay...
Read moreI ordered the bourbon Carmel latte, I opted to change out the milk options for oat milk. It was creamy, perfect temperature and absolutely delicious. Definitely knocks S*bucks out of the water and it’s supporting a small business. My little guy had a hot chocolate and I was impressed with the ability to order it as a “kid friendly temperature “. He drank it in about 4 minutes and couldn’t stop telling me how yummy it was. I asked about alternative milk options, nut allergies, and sugar free options. All of these were answered well with lots of options. I was impressed with the knowledge and service. Love the cute set up inside, the coloring books and crayons were a nice touch. Everything is very clean and obviously well cared for. Can’t wait to go...
Read moreDrive thru lady seemed nice, but the cake pop I got wasn’t good at all. Very dry and old, falling apart. The iced caramel latte I got hardly had any coffee or caramel flavor to it, it tasted like straight milk. This is the second time I’ve tried it, thinking that maybe the first time was a fluke but it was the...
