(2/2/2022) THEY ARE OPEN AGAIN, WOOOPEEEEEE!!! Cocoanut Grove is the perfect small-town bar that could rival any big city "dive bar" wannabee. The young ladies (AKA "ONE", as noted on the receipt) are spectacularly efficient, pleasant, hospitable, kind and personable. This was our first visit and most certainly WILL NOT BE OUR LAST! The food is very tasty, priced very competitively, the varied menu and the evening specials are diverse and creative. We couldn't count the number of televisions in the space but were told it was in the area of 33+. Taking this into consideration this just might become our go-to Monday night, Thursday night or Sunday stop for any and all Minnesota Vikings games :-) going forward (sorry BWW's). We shared the cheeseburger with tots (excellent) and the Breaded Shrimp Basket with crinkle fires (the shrimp were plump and FRESH, fries were perfectly cooked). Having 14 Hands wine being made available just topped off our visit. Overall, if we could offer up 10 STARS we would! SO happy we found...
Read moreAh, the Grove. Prison rats, bums, blue collar folk, and students all in attendence. It is near our house, so we go to our favorite "dive" bar here and there. Witnessed lots of drunken fights, usually minor, lots of hard characters, and bar flies. The service is great though, there are a couple attractive female bartenders that are pros at fending off sloppy idiots, and there are some menu items that are great.
Be prepared to stick up for yourself, and keep your wife close, because she will be hit on repeatedly if she is even half as beautiful as mine. If it's your thing, and you are looking for the last place to get in an honest fist fight in Bellingham, this is it. It is like an 80's time capsule, and is definitely an institution to those who know about it and can handle a...
Read moreI like this spot but there are two things they could do to earn my steady business. The pool table lights are way too dim and the balls are ready to be replaced. It's an added bonus to have pool tables at all but these are relatively easy and inexpensive fixes. I really like this spot but I primarily go to bars because there are also pool tables as well as the food and drink. The food and booze here is perfectly fine. Nice, open, dive bar atmosphere. I like it. This place is the closest pool table to my house and I really want to come here but I have to drive somewhere else. My business alone would probably pay for all of these things in a couple months. Hopefully, they see this and hook it up; it would make me...
