There are many gems along Kennedy Street N.W. and some are the best are in Brightwood Park. There's a Saturday bakery, a cidery and Everyday Sundae, a neighborhood ice cream shop with a kind owner that scoops with smiles. After visiting on a Friday afternoon, here's my experience: 1) Ice cream: 24 rotating flavors are on display every day except Mondays starting at 3 p.m. Sourcing from a creamery in Pennsylvania (don't ask the name- it's a well-kept secret), the owner lets you try as many flavors as you want. I ordered a kids size for $3.50 and it comes with two scoops of any flavor. The cookie dough and cappuccino crunch made a good combo. The ice cream is creamy, unique and full of flavor. 2) Prices: For quality ice cream, the prices aren't bad. $3.50 for a kid size with two scoops. $5.25 for a single with three scoops. A double comes with six scoops and is $5.95. They also make milk shakes. 3) Space: It's a small space, but they make good use of it. There are local products on sale in the corner and a bench up front. Displaying how loved this spot is, there's a "Love Wall" of notes from the community. 4) Service: Charles, the owner, is very friendly. He talks to every customer with respect and scoops with a genuine smile. After losing his job during the pandemic, Everyday Sundae is his pandemic pivot and you can tell it's his passion. The inspiration is contagious! If you love good ice cream, make a trip to Everyday Sundae. You'll leave inspired.

As we approach the 2-year anniverary of Everyday Sundae on Kennedy Street, I thought it was finally time I wrote a review. My family and my neighborhood community have been big fans since day 1, and we LOVE Everyday Sundae. The owner Charles is so nice and treats everyone with a genuine smile, repsect and great customer service. I'll tell you that my kids' favorite flavors include Superkid, Cookie Monster, and Cotton Candy. So if you're looking for artisanal preserved lemon and rosemary, this is not the ice cream shop for you. This is the epitome of a localgem of an ice cream shop. You run into your neighbors, your kids' friends, and people who live down the street from you that you've never met, so Charles introduces you. The place is pretty small, so sometimes we snag a seat and eat and peoplewatch. Othertimes is packed so we eat as we walk home, hoping that the 4-year old doesn't have a Piggie and Gerald moment and loses all his ice cream. We are so lucky to have such a stand-up entreprenuerial person like Charles who wanted to open an ice cream shop in our neighborhood! If you live nearby but haven't visited yet, it's definitely work it!

This place is special! I would share what flavors those are in the pictures, but they switch them up on you, so that wouldn't be nice--go there expecting one thing, and . . . . . The ice cream is delicious, and the fun is in the choosing! The owner, Charles, has made this the spot. He likes what he does and likes the people he serves. It's genuine. I hope you get a chance to say "hello" to him. Of course, the seating is what it is (real estate ain't cheap), but that is dwarfed by Everyday Sundae's specialness. Will be returning--100%! (The real reason I won't tell you the flavors is because the owner served us, and he's the type that would remember me by the flavor I ordered! You know the type! And, I prefer to stay anonymous!)

We have been visiting Everyday Sundae frequently since they opened and have always been 110% satisfied with every aspect of the visit. The owner and other employees are always friendly and welcoming, the space is bright and clean, and the ice cream is our favorite in the city. (And we've probably been to most of them!) And did I mention the waffle cones?! The heady, vanilla-y aroma of caramelized sugar that envelops you when you walk in is in part from waffle cones that are perfectly made, just minutes before you get them -- not too thin, not too thick, perfectly crispy and crunchy...just to die for.

The rotating ice cream varieties are all incredible. The flavors are deep and rich, with just the right amount of sweetness, leaving you perfectly satisfied. In addition to nostalgic favorites like maple pecan or mint chocolate chip, they include some delicious, creative combos. Our recent favorites are Key Lime Pie (including notes of that graham cracker crust) and the Bourbon Truffle (which I love paired with a scoop of their Cappuccino ice cream). The dairy-free sorbets are great too -- my favorite lately is passion fruit.

As soon as the temperature is above 60 degrees (and, let's be honest, maybe on a few colder days too), we just have to stop by. For us it's also a nearby neighborhood spot, so being able to contribute to such a great local small business where we live is the topping on the sundae! A little kid in line on our most recent visit summed it up perfectly when handed his colorful ice cream cone: "This is the best day ever!" Lol Yeah, I feel you, kid. 😂

Thank you for a great...
