First time visitor to Red Wind Casino. Upon arrival, parking was easy to find and accessible. As we entered the casino, and unbeknownst to us, we are required to check in at the podium style desk immediately inside to the left of the main door. We'd never have known until the person manning that desk yelled out to us, which they did. The line was forming right in front the of main entry. Not the best place to do this and certainly is a risk should an emergency arise and people need to exit quickly.
The slots were very tight and bonus rounds garnered nothing more than a few dollars. We spent 6 plus hours there and are now stock holders. I will note that the casino itself was VERY clean and easy to get around. One challenge was in finding the restrooms. Signage was hard to find for these locations.
For dinner, we decided to dine at the River Water Bar and Grille. Apparently it is highly suggested that we make a reservation. However, we were able to walk right up and immediately be seated. Our hostess and server were exemplary and my next comments are no reflection on them or their service.
We were given water and beverages not long after being seated. In addition, we were served some really warm and delicious cheese encrusted bread with butter. Very tasty. For dinner, both my friend and I ordered a main entre which included soup or salad, veggies, potato and a protein. I selected the Crab Stuffed Salmon with just veggies. My friend ordered Prime Rib with a baked potato and veggies. Our meal began on a high note with the French Onion Soup. It came served in the perfect size bowl and was truly some of the best I ever had. Next came the main course and here is where things went WAY downhill.
While my salmon was hot, the veggies were ice cold and far too undercooked. The salmon was to have been stuffed with crab and yet, I never tasted any crab. Unfortunately, the entire meal was very bland and tasteless...a BIG disappointment given the cost of the meal at $41. For that price, I would expect the use of herbs and spices to compliment the flavors of what was served. Needless to say, I ate most of the salmon but left ALL of the veggies. My friends entire meal was cold. We did request our server take her plate back to the kitchen for a reheat. Hers, too, was very bland and lacked flavor of any kind. In the end, she also left her veggies, potato and barely touched her prime rib. The prime rib was also very fatty. Her prime rib dinner was $39.
Overall experience was lacking in the kind of quality you would expect from a restaurant charging $41 for a salmon dinner. I rate this location a 2 and the 2 rating is merely because the server and hostess did a fine job and our tip reflected this. However, the one drawback was that with our complaint, I'd have had a manager over to speak with us and perhaps offer something else from the menu. This is one restaurant I won't be dining...
Read moreI'm sitting in the lounge, just sitting here. I know they saw me but not one of them has asked to help me. This place has declined so much. People used to be curtious and helpful. Now, they are more interested in talking to each other than serving a customer. The casino keeps getting rid of the old games people actually like to put in the new tight games that don't pay out. Games aren't nearly as fun as they used to be. No, give and take, so money just flies in no time at all, so it's not even worth the drive. The food I've had here so far is mediocre at best. I just don't see the point of continuing...
