I cannot believe how anyone would rate this past 1 star for the quality of the food and service. Where do I begin? So I was there for 1 week for a company retreat and ate at the restaurant twice. The first time I ate there, the service was slow, rude and certainly not befitting a "luxury" restaurant. The calamari app came out with the breading fallen off with shriveled pieces of squid rings scattered about. Clearly it sat under a heat lamp in the kitchen for 20 minutes + before being served, disgusting. My wife who was allowed to accompany me had the shrimp appetizer and the shrimp were over cooked and dry, once again b/c it probably sat under a heat lamp for 20 minutes or more. Finaly for appetizers we had the crab dip... it was overly salted and looked as if it was sitting out for some time. More on this dish to come... I then had the prime rib large, which to be fair was decent, however, the sides that came with it was ultra dry crusty broccoli and a sort of scalloped potato which lacked any flavor whatsoever. I was glad to leave the meal. 6 hours later, the revenge of the crab dip began. Doubled over in my bed screaming in pain from 12:30 am to 8am with food poisoning, my wife almost took me to the emergency room. Finally, the stabbing pain abated mostly, and I was able to finally sleep but I missed much of the next day's events. A day later we were to eat at this restaurant again and of course I was extremely weary, but it was a company event. Oh how it got worse. First the wait staff this time was even more incompetent. The waitress stated she, "could only care 2 glasses of water at a time" and proceeded to make 3 trips to our table to deliver just water. Have they heard of serving trays? And THEN she places the water at the end of the table and says, "we'll have to play the pass down game" and proceeds to walk away. Yes... at a "fancy" restaurant we had to pass waters around. She said she'd be back with bread for our table, never came back, and now another waiter was attending us. Once again, she forgot the bread as well twice. I ordered the French onion soup and the prime rib again figuring at least the prime rib was a safe bet since it was decent last time and instead of the tasteless scalloped potatoes I opted for a baked potato. I could go on about how everyone's appetizers came out at different times, how my associates' salads literally looked and tasted like they came from a gas station, but I digress. My soup was miserable. It lacked any full flavor, and it was thin and tangy as if they added vinegar. Finally, the prime rib came out. My prime rib was cold. Yes ... cold. like it had been sitting out but not under a heat lamp. I couldn't eat it. The baked potato? Oh... that was also the case. It was cold and had clearly been baked HOURS before it was served to me. It was inedible. The bacon that came with the potato was also obviously prepped and cooked HOURS earlier and had the texture of rubber. My wife got the ribeye, which was SEVENTY DOLLARS. The ribeye was at best a tad over 1/4 thick. It was miserably thin and overcooked. Folks, if you want a fancy nice dinner and are staying at the Clearwater PLEASE PLEASE don't waste your money at this restaurant. Go into town and find another...
Read moreOverall, the quality of the experience and food was just fine - they made great drinks, our sushi appetizers were great, and my meal tasted good…. The problem and reason I’m giving 2 stars is I believe management or something top down is not working well. First we had reservations set 6 weeks before our dinner. It was for a special birthday and we were told originally we couldn’t sit all 10 of us together because of covid. So we were split up at two tables (6 and 4) and mid-dinner the next party that comes in and sits next to us is a party of 10 with 1 table. We got some weird answer about them having a “priority reservation” and told we could not move our tables together to sit with our family. That was weird but not a deal breaker. The big issues being our entire dinner experience, from when we sat down at our reservation time was over 3 hours (6:00pm reservations and we did not get our cards back from paying until ~9:15pm). Now I enjoy nice dinner and don’t mind 3 hours if that’s the pace we are going at as a group, but we were waiting an extremely long time for any little thing - our first drink took about 40 mins to show up for 10 people. Mind you, it was NOT a busy night here, there was 2 empty tables in the room we were in and several empty booths - I did see a bar fully seated at one point which seated 8-10 people, but truthfully there seemed ZERO shortage of staff (I saw 5 different waitresses and 2-3 different bartenders - unless there was just 1 cook, I didn’t see the kitchen) and not an excessive demand from customers, not even a full restaurant. That first drink set the tone for the night and finally 2 hours after we sat down, our food came (even though we ordered shortly after our first drink came). We were just happy to get our food, it looked great, no huge deal. Well surprise because there was something up with the food… it was about the temperature you’d expect after it sat out for an hour. I don’t know if there was miscommunication somewhere between staff, or sloppy management, or our lack of “priority reservation”… maybe a combination of all but there’s no way they operate like this normally as they would have little business coming through. All in all our family has a memory to laugh about and we were happy to spend time together, but truthfully it was one of the worst dinner experiences I’ve had in awhile, just from the execution of it all. I’d like to say the food was good quality and flavor, just every bit of it was cold. I don’t believe our experience was the typical one here, more of a one-off and our waitress was really sweet and tried to do...
Read moreWe have dined at this restaurant a few times before and decided we would take advantage of their promotion (room & $40 food coupon for $149). First off, when we checked in we were told we had to redeem the food voucher at the players club at the casino. Not exactly what we had planned for (trying to avoid the casino, giving our personal info, etc). But - we did in order to get the voucher. It was our anniversary (which I had noted when we made the dinner reservations at The Clearwater). We ordered the crab & lobster dip, steak (husband), halibut (me). The steak and halibut came with soup or salad and we were brought these before the starter (strange!). The soup and salad were good - Caesar salad was actually larger than I expected and neither my husband or I could finish it. The starter (dip) was brought literally 3 minutes before our main entrees! We had a few bites before she had to shift it aside for our dinners. My halibut and risotto was very good. Large portions so both my husband and I brought 1/2 our dinners home. Unfortunately most of the dip was wasted - too late to enjoy with our wine before our meal. Since we were full, we asked if there was a place we could pick up dessert for later and our waitress said the cafe. Well, apparently the cafe was closed - so our anniversary dessert consisted of gummy bears from the vending machine. Our waitress was very nice and working too many tables. When we went to pay they had not taken the $40 off and we had the go through 3 people and 25 minutes to resolve this issue. We love coming here for the resort. It is calming and quiet. Unfortunately the restaurants continue to be...
