I can’t say enough good things about this place. 1. Awesome beer selection 2. Board games and corn hole to keep you entertained 3. DOGS! As the name suggests (minus being wet) dogs are welcome here on the front patio. You can come to drink, socialize and meet new neighborhood dogs. 4. Chill Vibe - it’s so relaxing and comfortable here - not stuffy at all 5. Winter friendly. If you do come in the fall/winter months, they’ll still have the back patio open - it’ll be tented with heated lamps 6. THE BURGERS. Oh my goodness Mélange Burgers. This would be number one on my list, but I wanted to save the best for last. Sometimes, I just come here to eat a burger because it’s so good - I crave it. My mouth is watering as I write this just thinking about it. I rave about this burger to everyone I meet, and when I finally bring them to try it, they’re speechless with how good it is - they end up ordering a second one because it’s so good. The menu is limited (three selections and sometimes a he has a special) but that’s all you need. The burger just melts in your mouth with every bite. I had to google the chef to learn more about this burger after my first experience, and I learned that he studied culinary arts in France and formerly worked at Michelin-starred Caviar Russe in New York. This guy brings those rich flavors from his French culinary background and incorporates them into his burgers. I don’t know how he does it, but the way he combines flavors is incredible. You will not be disappointed by this burger. And if you’re a slightly picky eater like me, they’ll take off the tomato and onion for you.

I passed Wet Dog Tavern on the way to dinner the other night and told my husband we should stop by after for a drink and see what the vibe was like. It is a small tavern, but definitely has a cool converted industrial building atmosphere. The outdoor patio provides for additional space to hang out and play corn hole or watch sports on there large wall projection. It was chilly that night and they did have several gas heat lamps going, which you could see groups of folks huddled around. I like the wrap around bar setup, as it allows the bartenders to serve both inside and outside guests simultaneously. The beer selection was pretty good. If you like IPAs, then you will like their beer selection more than I did, but I did try a cider and my husband ordered a stout...both were in cans. We generally prefer darker beer, such as ambers, porters and stouts; though I do also dabble in ciders and sours. The large canvas outside was the highlight for me. I loved the ode to Michelangelo's "The Creation of Adam," from a canine perspective. Just awesome. All in all, we had fun; so if you are looking for a nice little meet up spot for friends with or without dogs, this is a great option. Thanks for a good experience!

I visited five bars in U St on Saturday night and Wet Dog was by far my favorite. I loved the quick outdoor bar service, ample seating options and bar games (Connect Four and Cornhole). Everyone seemed to be having a good time and the music wasn't too loud. The drink selection and prices were reasonable. I would definitely consider going back to Wet Dog the next time I go out in the U St area.

Long story short- arrived at 1:45pm. Saw that the door and gate was open so we walked in with the hopes of scoring a table (no reservation made). A worker there told me to "back up" multiple times and I was not sure why. He then brought a table out and blocked the gate and shut it. This is when he let us know that they weren't open until 2pm. Fair enough, it was just a tad rude. At 2:02pm another group showed up and asked why were just standing there and insisted that it opened at 2pm. I told them what just happened and the other group approached the door also hoping to check in (no reservation). That's when the "back up" man told them that they were completely booked and weren't taking walk-ins. That would have been nice to know. At about 2:05pm we re-approached the door wondering what was going on. We politely asked for details of the seating situation or if we were even going to have to book a last minute reservation. Mid sentence, the same man literally shut the door, locked it, and walked away from the situation. I could not believe it. Finally, a female came outside and started to get us a seat but said we were only able to sit for 1 hour because the place was actually booked at 3pm (not 2pm as previously stated). All personnel we encountered that day had AWFUL attitudes. What sent it over the edge and required this review was the man who shut the door on our faces. Unbelievable. It grossed out the next 3 groups who were in line behind us and got to witness...
