Café Noir — Restaurant in Waterbury

Worst customer service ever. My granddaughter looked for breakfast places and she saw a beautiful yummy picture of pancakes with Nutella whipped cream and strawberries. So, we went to try this place out. We walked in, nobody acknowledged us, we went to the counter where an aggravated employee was inputting an order on the register. I kindly ask if we need to place the order over the counter or someone will come to the table to take our order. The employee said have a seat, while my grandkids were on their way to the table of four I asked this guy, may you please clean the table, there are dirty dishes and the table needs to be clean. This rude guy had the guts to tell us you can sit there while he pointed at a small table for 2 people and said I have a lot of work to do and it's only me. I said but we need 4 seats. He said you can put 2 tables together. Unbelievable, he sent the customer who is paying for a service to do his job. I wanted to please my grandchildren with their pancakes craving and decided not to make a big deal and stayed. I waited 35 minutes for this guy to come to my small table to take our order. While we wait for our food, we started hearing this guy yelling to the people in the kitchen. After another 30 ish minutes 2 plates came out first and then we wait another 20 minutes for the other 2 plates to come out. The pancakes were horrible nothing compared to what it looked on the photo. Forget about the food. This is about the attitude of this guy. When I paid my asked for the manager he said he was one of the managers. I doubt that a person with that attitude manages a business. I said that as a feedback he wouldn't be sending customer to put table together and that he can provide a better customer service.his response was that everyone is fine with that and nobody complain. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I don't think he was the manager. He is really young, he has long hair, he was wearing a pink shirt and a hat. I have the the receipt if that helps you to identify who worked on that shift on that day. Horrible guy. Nasty attitude. Unprofessional customer service. Hire people with a smile on their faces, not bitter people that complains about been busy at work and takes it off...

Not what it use to be. Very disappointing, we use to come here twice a month a few years ago then moved further away. The quality of food was great back then. They use to make homemade corned beef hash that actually contained chunks of fresh cooked meat. What they are passing off now as homemade is canned hash with added ingredients, horrible. The eggs used for omelette are now clearly liquid and not fresh. They are flat and tasteless. They use to be nice and fluffy. I ordered an avocado omelette. The avocado was so unripe you couldn’t put a fork in it. They new that when cutting it and still used it. I paid full price for the omelette and side of hash and had one bite. They refused to refund the price of the omelette even though I didn’t get the potatoes and returned the whole meal. Even their breads are not what they use to be. It was cheap floppy and barely toasted. They use to have a nice fresh Italian bread. It was not even an option. Only white and wheat. We will...

Update: the review I left below is from a year ago. We went couple of days ago on a Sunday morning and the place was fairly busy. The guy taking our order was unfriendly and the woman who brought the food is annoying. My wife ordered a chicken panini and what comes out is grilled chicken on rye toast. I told her she ordered a panini, this woman had the nerves to tell me "the bread is panini". Like we haven't eaten out before. It will be the last time we go back there. Kitchen 64 is jot far away as had way better service and food. Brunch house blows this place away. There are better options, spend your money where its respected.
