As any discerning pizza lover knows, the ultimate test of a pizzeria’s craft lies in its simplest offering: the classic cheese pizza. With that in mind, I recently visited Nana’s Byrek Pizza in Waterford, Connecticut, eager to see how their take on this iconic staple measured up.

To begin with, the flavors of the pizza were respectable. The tomato sauce was well-balanced—neither too sweet nor too acidic—and applied with a measured hand, achieving that coveted harmony between sauce and cheese. However, where the flavor excelled, the texture left something to be desired. The slice, when held, lacked structural integrity, with a noticeable limpness that detracted from the eating experience. Further, while the cheese was flavorful, it missed that golden, bubbly finish—a hallmark of a perfectly baked pie.

I don’t think I’ve ever recieved as great of sevice as I did from here . Tonight was my first time trying food here and I will DEFINITELY be back ! I got stuck at work late and showed up after hours for my pizza figuring they closed due to me not showing up but she was STILL waiting ! Fresh , and the lady was soo sweet even though I was late . And not to mention it was absolutely FANTASTIC and it was only a cheeze pizza ! I couldn’t believe how tasty ! Being that I worked all day long this heart shaped pizza was my last shot at a dinner with my boyfriend for valentines day and she totally made it happen ! Staff was rude. She left me waiting while she spoke with a non-customer, who interrupted us, for several minutes. Then, she had the nerve to keep the coin portion of my change when she finally rang me up. Customers should come first. I have no intention of returning. You must have selective memory. The pizza was not prepared, it came straight from the fridge as I didn't want to wait any longer. Your looking up information for the person on your phone regarding where she could purchase fennel took longer than 30 seconds you initially claimed in your first, unedited response.
