Drove from Toledo to Waterville ordered French toast for me and a Pancake for my friend we waited 40 minutes, inquired several times as to why it was so slow Manager told me that it was not unusual for people to go to restaurants and wait a half hour to 40 minutes for a pancake and an order of French toast No, I’m sorry that things are running slow No coffee while we were waiting no communication Restaurant was not very full. Only an about 10 to 15 customers waitresses were not busy just talking to each other or eating at the counter not busy. When the order finally came up the pancakes in the window sat about four minutes until I asked someone to bring it to the counter where we were sitting Manager very argumentative and rude The manager Needs to learn to say sorry things aren’t going as fast as they should And not argue with the customer as to how it’s OK to wait that long for an order she told us that she dines out a lot of restaurants and it’s not unusual to wait that long I dine out a lot also and sometimes you do wait more than a half hour for your food but not for just a French toast and a pancake Might be kinder to say The kitchen Is busy or behind just be considerate and let customer what’s going on so they don’t sit there so long and wonder Please don’t be argumentative and clearly loud assertive and rude with the customer The waitress finally left us now after we continued with our meal that they were running behind and short of staff, I can understand that Rudeness I cannot understand dining out should be a pleasant experience it was not the case at Dales Waterville is a wonderful place to visit. I hope in the future no one else gets treated as...
Read moreThe food here is persistently several steps below average, the restaurant itself is always dirty, and the service is very poor. The only reason I've ever visited Dale's is because it's one of the very few options in Waterville - otherwise I'd always opt for something better than this.
Also worth consideration is that they don't require employees or patrons to wear masks during this worsening pandemic, and their communication regarding this fact has been that they are, curiously, proud of this. It's almost as if they view it as their patriotic duty... to risk the health and safety of their patrons, all because "tHe CoNsTiTuTiOn". So considering this is actually a matter of public safety, who's to say that their employees wash their hands after using the restroom? Or that temp-sensitive ingredients are stored properly? The mind boggles when considering all the corners they could be (and demonstrably are) cutting. [EDIT: After looking them up on the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department website I found that they have been cited numerous times for both of these things, and more.]
A restaurant that picks and chooses which public health guidelines to adhere to is not one I could, in good faith, ever recommend to anyone. You should be able to enjoy your drink and/or meal with confidence. There are plenty of better options in the surrounding area, and I would strongly recommend visiting one of these alternatives—particularly, one that values the health and safety of its patrons, and the overall dining experience, over the twisted, politically-motivated-reasoning of its...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place, and I was sadly disappointed.
Done right, I could see this place being a popular local diner known for turning out tasty, local fare.
As it is now, this is a food assembly facility, not a restaurant.
I had:
Waffle breakfast: One waffle (undercooked - mushy in the center), which, while tasty, was not a $5 breakfast, since it came with absolutely nothing else.
Side of sausage links: Two small links, tasty but overpriced at $2.50
My guest had:
A fish sandwich consisting of two breaded pieces of fish resembling large, processed fish sticks
An order of crinkle-cut fries which were crispy, but lifeless, giving every appearance of the kind of fries you get frozen in a bag at the grocery store
Coffee, which was good, hot, & strong, with plentiful refills
The service was likewise disappointing. My guest & I each complained regarding the substandard food, and the server not only failed to apologize or make amends, she couldn't even see where there was anything to complain about. To her, such food was something she had no problem serving.
This restaurant is an example of how even simple things can be done wrong. Prepared, frozen food reheated and passed off as the product of a working kitchen, with a notable lack of fresh or local...
