Meh, off night perhaps? But i kind of doubt it. The inside of the place is fine, great saltwater aquarium, faux fireplace on the back wall, comfortable seats. But man, the servers were at my table 4 times before we had turned the page on the menu. Asked for soda water, and were brought $4 bottles of voss, that were already opened, which is offputting on several levels: price, sanitation, reused bottle with bar gun soda water? The food was expensive-ish, not authentic by a loooong shot, and not very flavorful. Sushi was bland mush, rice not well seasoned, no flavor to fish or sauces, i had the king maki and a spicy tuna roll. The bulgogi was just sweet, way too much so, no red pepper or gochujang or anything but sweet and onion in there at all. It was more like japanese niku-don, in the vein of Yoshinoya, than bulgogi, but too sweet. Entrees only come with soup, have to pay extra for salad. We both ordered a side salad and my wife got a larger one with broccoli and other veggies and i got the standard lettyce tomato cucumber mini salad. Wife got the hot stone bibimbop with tofu. No pickled veggies, just steamed zuchini, carrots, etc. And steamed tofu. There was sauce on the side in a squeeze bottle, but that was the only flavor in the dish. Staff were kind of argumentative, might have been my fault because i thought the entree came with salad and soup, but menu actually said salad and rice. Instead of just orderimg me the salad, i got brought the menu to show me i was wrong. So a bowl of veggie bibimbop, 2 sushi rolls of smallish size with patchy rice layers, a plate of bulgogi, and two soda waters was over $80 with tax and tip. I only mention the price because the quality of the food was subpar for the price point. We left most of the bulgogi because it had no flavor, and ordered a consolation pizza for my wife on the way home. Won't...
Read moreDelicious and staff is very friendly! I ordered shrimp tempura roll and spicy pork fried rice to go, about 30mins before closing. I was sure it was going to be too late to order, but they accommodated me because I was 5mins away. The food was very good, fresh. I appreciate that the rice had edible broccoli florets and not just stems like a lot of places throw into the rice. The tempura roll was very nice, the ginger and wasabi tasted very clean and fresh. I don't usually order tempura, but I didn't want to have raw fish from a place I'm not familiar with. I feel very confident whatever else I order will be excellent! So happy to have good sushi in the suburbs. I will...
Read moreA little bit noisy in the evening but the food is really good. It's one of my favorite places to go for sushi or bimbibi bom
Update ... We've gone three or four times since my original post. Tonight we decided we won't be going back. Visibly watered down cranberry juice, we said something they didn't offer to get another one, ironically they offered water.... The sashimi is definitely smaller than it used to be and the prices seem a bit higher now. Food tasted fine, but not great like it used to
For the same money I could have taken the family to Crazy Stone on rt 20 just over the marlboro town line 3 times and had a better time. Sad takara seems to be...
