Antietam Dairy — Restaurant in Waynesboro

I’ve been coming here for 28 years and my family has been coming here longer than that. Today was the first time I’ve ever had a concern/complaint. On Sunday 5/7, I ordered a large oatmeal creme pie/brownie blast and my mom ordered a small carmel apple pie in a cone. Both ice creams tasted great, but the young girl who took our order didn’t seem to know what she was doing. She wrote down our order, which seemed strange for 2 people and no line. Then she said our total was 11 dollars which is wrong because a large (5 dollars) and a small (4 dollars) is 9 dollars. I decided not to say anything because it was just 2 dollars and the girl seemed very confused about everything going on. So, we wait at the window for the ice cream and mine comes out fine, but my moms comes out with hardly any ice cream on it. She told me it’s because an adult scooped mine and the girl in the front scooped hers. We decided not to say anything because we figured it was an off day, but then later that day my mom said she wasn’t interested in going there anymore since both service and quantity standards seemed off. So, my intent of this review is to make management aware in case other customers are having this same issue. I think if you’re going to have young children running the front of the business, there needs to be closer quality/quantity/service standards by an adult...

I messaged Antietam months ago about purchasing ice cream for my wedding, at that time everything was fine and they were willing to sell the ice cream to me no problem. They now have issues with another vendor that has nothing to do with me as I’ve rented a cart from a party rental company. It seems like the business has a vendetta against this new vendor and is taking it out on me as a customer who just wanted to buy some dang ice cream. What I do with the ice cream after it leaves your store should be none of your business. If I wanna go home and take a bath in the ice cream that’s on me!! Requiring your customers to show you state licenses just to buy ice cream is actually insane!! ITS ICE CREAM FOR PETES SAKE! Being rude to a customer who just wanted to give you their business is just insane to me... I’d recommend you give your business to one of the other local creameries as these guys have no clue how to...

just a heads up to folks with allergies: non dairy very berry contains nuts but isn’t advertised as containing nuts.

Update to my review following response from Management: I should clarify that the non-dairy very berry ice cream I ordered on Saturday 6/15/24 came with cashews in it. It was a red and white ice cream with cashews mixed in. Flavors are hand-written on a poster board on the wall next to the window you order from, and there is nothing noted next to this flavor that it may include nuts or cashews. While it's humanly possible that the staff at this location served a cup of the wrong flavor ice cream by mistake, for me it's the lack of effort on behalf of management to remedy the issue or inquire with their own staff how this error might have taken place at all, to avoid it taking place again. Just sharing my experience so that others with allergies may be extra cautious....
