This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant, but I moved & hadn't been in nearly 5 years. I was so disappointed to see the dining area was closed. There is a huge plexiglass wall with a hole so small none of the food can be passed through it where the register used to be - food must be handed around the barrier. There was frequently a man sitting at one of the tables cleaning fresh snow peas when I used to visit. I didn't even see him in the restaurant - nor any of the children who were so often present before. The woman working the front counter may have said 5 words to me & she did not appear happy to be there. The lack of love played out in the food which was not near as flavorful as I remember. The pork fried rice was extremely bland & borderline crunchy! The spring rolls I ordered were microscopic! The shrimp with curry was in a brown sauce & I could not taste curry at all. The shrimp & veggies were cooked perfectly, but definitely should not be listed on the menu as 'curry'. I probably won't return to...
Read more10/10 on American Chinese food, and I’m from NYC. I am actually a blogger on social media and a chef. I am from NY And American Cantonese and Szechuan was all around me growing up. This by FAR surpasses any of the Chinese food I have eaten in the last seven years since moving to Vermont , then to mass, now here to SW Va. I could go on about flavor, timing , and service but I’ll spare you the even more drawn out review and just saw it’s all VERY good. The food has a really good flavor. I suggest , if you order and are expecting spicy food, ask them to make it to the hottest of their ability, (trust me you won’t die ) and try the hot and sour soup. It’s perfect. I didn’t even have to add hot sauce, sesame oil, or anything, it was perfect,. We will definitely be...
Read moreI would probably have been more appreciative of this place if they would have 1 person that spoke English. I got the chicken with peas, carrots and cashews with a big compacted rice mound. It was good but I like Sakura's better. It just had a different taste. There was a steady flow of about 15 people ordering General Pow's (spelling?) Chicken. I asked most everyone what they were getting because this was mine and Mom's first time. Everything was nice, clean and easy to order. I liked it but I'm not sure if I will go again. If someone could explain what you were ordering I'd probably go back sooner. I'm just a southern boy with country taste... but I do like to try...
