Wanted it to be great, but....
So the good: it has a good coffee shop feel, well decorated in downtown Wellington. I have stopped here several times and the food is pretty good. I really like the ham and cheddar on a cinnamon roll... their coffee is pretty good.
NOW the bad: I have ordered the same thing a few times. Ham and cheddar on cinnamon roll and while it tastes pretty good, it is rarely heated all the way through. Nothing like the bite of cold meat on a hot sandwich. Now that I have just accepted because it is the only place that has such an odd sandwich for breakfast. The staff is way under trained. They struggle ever time with the POS system. I normally order a triple shot of espresso. Their sign is marked as 2 oz per shot. With my public school, non-common core education, I estimate 6 oz shoild be in my cup. (1/2 full 12 oz cup). This must be the precooked volume as the 12 oz cup is about 1/3 full. I asked the staff last time and we agreed they are 1 1/2 oz shots. They offered me a free 6 oz of espresso. I asked that they just fixed their sign (chalk board) they agreed. 2 weeks later I order the same tripple shot. Again 1/3 full. The staff recognized me and even saw it coming when I re-approached the register and asked for the manager, who recognized me. They said it was just inconvenient to fix their board. So they give you 3/4 of what you pay for.
The so-so: the staff gets saturated quickly with just a couple of orders, so if you are patient you will probably get most of what you ordered in a reasonable amount of time, but expect you order to include food to be piecemeal.
EDIT... It has been a few months since visiting. I returned today. The menu...
Read morea charming little place with a great motif, old red brick like a firehouse, spacious and comfortable. Downtown Wellington is not much of a tourist draw and maybe not even much of a locals draw, so this little place will have to work hard to stay open. However, it had a good crowd a friendly people and smiling faces, the prices are very reasonable, and everything we had was good. Caveat: the Proprietors wear their religion upon their sleeve, so it is impossible to escape the Christian overtone. The same can be said for pretty much all of Kansas. If you are uncomfortable with this level of religiosity in a business you might want to stear clear, but the same can be again said for...
Read moreDude, the service in this small town is amazing, and it feels super welcoming when you walk in. I've traveled all over the world, and I gotta say, Wellington, KS is a real find. Seriously, from the Crossroads of the Blue Cafe in the Mississippi Delta to brunch in upstate New York, this place is a gem. The staff is awesome, and the baked goods are to die for. The lunch wraps and everything else in this coffee shop are fantastic. I'm so glad it's close to one of my spots. The drive from Tulsa to Wellington used to be a drag, but now I plan my Tuesdays around it just to go there. I wouldn't change a thing. Great job, No. 7! I even take food home! It should be a chain, but that...
