I really enjoyed my meal, but the wait times between getting my appetizer, then meal, then dessert were VERY long. From start to finish, it took a little over 2 hours, from the time we got there until we could leave. The person I had supper with had paid using a debit card, so her bill was taken care of rather quickly, while I had to pay in cash, figuring out my gratuity. The waitress left to give me time to figure out what I needed to before paying my bill. I waited quite some time for her to come back. Not seeing her around anywhere, we decided to go to the hostess station to see if we could pay my bill there. They explained that they needed my server to be able to pay my bill, so one of the Hostesses left to go look for her. Eventually they found her so that I could pay. I do not know if they were overly busy, or understaffed that day, but I was a tad frustrated with the amount of time things took from start to finish. Also, I wish I had more ability to locate my waitress when I needed her. I was told that the part of the dining room we were seated in had recently been reopened. It was quite a distance from the other dining room, with the bar in between both dining rooms. We also noticed that each table had different wait staff waiting each table, in our section, which seemed rather confusing, especially since I have been a waitress myself for just over 10 years. (Not sure if she may have forgotten that we were over in the other dining room or not, since we seemed to be so far away from her other customers. Her service, when there, was very good, but I really wish she had been around our area more frequently. I had needed more tartar sauce with my meal & could not find her, so I ended up asking the 1st waiter I could find. The food was extremely good, but pricey. (I do not eat out often.)The total for my meal alone was well over $50. As a once in a very great while meal, it was very delicious. I did not have a single complaint about how it was cooked, or about the flavor of any of it. I do, however highly recommend the Bombolini dessert! It was amazing, as was the rest of my meal! Great food, just a little more expensive than...

After a long day of work, her suggestion of The Long Night cocktail was exactly what I needed and it was the perfect way to start my meal! Tonight I started with the crab stuffed mushrooms served with a delectable mixed greens salad lightly dressed with a truffle oil dressing. Each bite was a burst of flavor with the tangy salad mixing and mingling perfectly with the heavenly cheese and crab stuffed mushrooms! Yum! For my main course I ordered the pumpkin ravioli and scallop special. Holy wah! The savory scallops paired perfectly with the sweet pumpkin filling inside the delicate ravioli. Absolutely fantastic! Overall another spectacular dining experience at the Freshwater Tavern! Thank you all for such a wonderful time!

Read moreWOW!!!! What an amazing restaurant! A friend of mine invited me out to his daughter's birthday and this was the place they chose. I ended up having the Ahi Tuna salad and the whitefish sandwich with Cajun fries. I don't normally rave about places but this food was absolutely amazing. The whitefish sandwich with the fries jalapeno chips on it was something I would have never thought of but it took a fish sandwich into a whole new experience. The pretzel bun was light and fluffy yet still had that sourdough bite to it. The ahi tuna with the soy dressing was absolutely fantastic as well. The tuna was prepared lightly seared and tasted like it was caught that day. I've had a lot of tuna around the world and this was some of the best I've ever had hands down. The service was fantastic as well. The sweet breads they bring out with dinner was a delightful treat as well. They serve the bread with two full bunchs of roasted garlic with a side of whipped butter and cinnamon butter as well. Honestly this place is a true hidden gem of the UP. The ambiance and layout of the restaurant reminded me a lot of traditional supper clubs of Wisconsin with a new modern twist. If more restaurants were like this the supper club style of restaurant would make a full comeback and be a "new thing" for the younger generations. I give the freshwater tavern a 10/10 and would recommend this place to anyone that wants a high quality meal or a family celebrating something or a date night. I believe the prices of the food and drinks was well worth it because of the quality and service...
