Beverages: Hibiscus juice taste a bit like pomegranate juice. Baobab juice taste like candy or pound cake. 👌🏿Baobab is my favorite, thus far! Meals: Numbers 13 (Yassa) is very good (ask for brown rice or they'll give you white w/o asking). I'm new here so, I didn't know. Anyway, my friends enjoyed #'s 8, 10, 19 & 26. The rice is plenty (if you want brown rice you better ask for it because the cashier won't give you any options). 🤷🏿♀️ Number 24 (alfredo meal) indicates chicken AND (not or) shrimp for $10. 🙅🏿♀️The cashier did not ask if I wanted chicken or shrimp. I was confused when my meal was delivered with only chicken. I was then told It's an extra $1 to add shrimp. That was fine for 8 small shrimp. However, 🤦🏿♀️It would've been nice not to pause until the shrimp arrive. They seem to be very kool bruthas tho. 🧏🏿♀️FYI: Their menu isn't up to date so your bill may be a bit higher than expected. Unless you ask if price is current. 👍🏽We've been 3 times in 1 week and we like it all except for the alfredo. It's a blend of alfredo sauce eith a hint of herbs & tomatoe paste to thicken it, which wasn't bad after I took it home & added some steamed broccoli & cayenne pepper. Best part is, all the food must be LOW SALT because it never mess with my blood pressure. Suggestion: Like the other Afrikan restaurants, Sene Grill should offer individual servings of fufu ($3) instead of large $15 family sized...
Read moreMy expectations were high when I heard good stuff about Sene Grill from an acquaintance. I ordered a Thiebu Guinar and my wife ordered the shrimp skewers. We mentioned during the time of ordering that we would be eating in, and we also had an order of the strawberry lemonade. Tip was paid upfront with the expectation that food and all items would be brought to the table.
But the kid who took the order literally packed our food in takeout boxes, and then yelled at us from the counter when we were seated on the table. He also did not pack out our lemonade or any utensils, so how exactly did he expect us to eat? And what was the tip for?
Beside that, the tables were dirty and we only found a single table that you could say was clean. The food did not have much flavoring, and I felt like all I got was rice and barely any meat. On my wife’s plate, the food didn’t have any good flavor.
Maybe this is one of those places where you are expected to carry out only, and not dine in. They simply lack the staff or training for an in house dining experience, so please do not tip when you order food and you’re expecting food to be brought to your table.
We won’t be...
Read moreFirst time at Sene Grill, I was blown away by the quality of the food. This is even after reading reviews and sing so many people compliment the flavors.
I ordered the oxtail Curry and the wings with a jerk seasoning. Both have moderate heat on them, are well seasoned with deep flavors, and have the perfect balance of salt. It doesn't taste salty, but the seasoning on it brings out the flavors that really define the dish.
While the main star of the oxtail dish is delicious in its own right, the salad, plantain, and rice &beans are cooked with as much care and attention as the other elements. Fresh salad, fragrant plantain, and rice and beans with enough softness to soak up the curry while retaining a firm texture to deliver a satisfying bite.
I'm all for a repeat trip to Sene Grill, and will explore the variety of dishes they have in the coming months.
The friendliness of staff, the quality of food, and speed of service were all on point today. For a first time experience, I'm...
