I just ordered from Present Tense for Chicago Restaurant Week and let me just say I only leave reviews when things are really, really good or really, really bad. Fortunately, this is one of those amazing experiences that I had to share. My husband and I already love the cocktails from Present Tense. We especially love the margaritas and punch (be forewarned they’re strong and tasty so hide those legal documents). We’ve tried a few of the bar snacks and really liked them but weren’t sure how entrees would be. They were AH-mazing! We started with the BLT dip and ate way too much of it. It was so good that I hope they keep it on the menu so I can bring it to picnics and claim I made it. Then, I had the red chile braised pork. I filled up a little too much on the BLT dip so I ate half of it the first night like a soup and then saved some the next day at ate it like nachos. I felt like someone’s grandma made it for me and filled it up with comfort and love. It tasted like a hug. For dessert, we got the Chess pie and the apple crumble. I highly recommend Present Tense Bar if you're looking for creative and tasty drinks as well as top quality service for your next event! I met the owner at a farmers market and shortly booked him for our house concert series. Derek was easy to communicate and collaborate with. He created three specialty cocktails inspired by the artists performing and executed them flawlessly. I have to say Derek and his team really go above and beyond while bringing a sense of ease and positivity. They demonstrated this amongst last minute changes on our end due to rain and when our show went over time (due to a few encore songs) Present Tense Bar stayed to give our guests a last call on drinks.
