My husband ordered orange chicken with hot and sour soup. He said his was OK, but very bland and not one he would get again. I made the mistake of ordering wonton soup and egg foo yong. Neither of which were what they were advertised. I was really craving wonton soup – but their “wonton” soup left me wanting. First, there are no actual wontons in their wonton soup. It was actually just a water down chicken broth, no seasoning that I could tell, with mixed Chinese vegetables – pea pods, broccoli, baby corn, water chestnuts.. The vegetables would have been a welcome addition had it actually been wonton soup. But the lack of any wontons made the soup beyond disappointing. In addition, It did not having the wonderful flavorful broth that I’m used to with wonton soup, which was also disappointing. As it turned out, it was just a very bland chicken broth with noodles and Chinese vegetables.. Next, the egg foo yong was also not what I expected. When I was a kid I remember my mom taking me out for egg foo yong and getting the wonderful fully egg patties filled with vegetables and meat with a rich gravy on top. Instead, I got one giant, rubbery square egg and flour patty that resembled hard cooked tofu. On top of that was what seemed and tasted like very water down Szechuan vegetables. It was bland and disgusting. The egg patty was completely inedible. Because they’re doing takeout only, I had no way to take it back and return it. On top of that, the rice we got had to have been three or four days old. They were clearly understaffed and very busy with takeout orders, but I’m not sure how they could be as busy as they were with the poor quality of food that we got. It was our first time, but you can bet it will also be our last. The staff however-only two people working at the time were very nice. Just the...
Read moreThey had a delivery app, door dash listed to order online. The order was processed and payment taken. After being over an hour late for delivery time, I called. The lady I spoke to was very rude to me and refused to help. She admitted they recieved an order from door dash and told me they do not accept those orders. I told her that the website says different. She proceeded to tell me she didnt know what to tell me and wouldnt make my order. I then called door dash and they confirmed my order was placed and called the restaurant to see why they havent made the order requested because it was listed that the accept orders from door dash. They called me back and said they were refusing the order. I then requested a refund because still my money was taken and nothing was delivered. The restaurant didn't even have the decency to call and tell me they wouldnt make the order for them. They just ignored the request like it never happened. They expected me to order over the phone and pay again. Door dash reported them for misinformation and said they would refund my money but it will take up to 7 days to do so. Absolute worst service ever. I then read a review about cockroaches being in the food so im glad i didnt get food from them anyways. What a horrible business. Rude employees that lack professionalism and social skills. They were rude to me for screwing up and ignoring my order. I am beyond furious and that employee should be fired and website shut down. Never ordering online through any app again, period. They just take your money and...
Read moreI don't know why this evening's delivery order turned out as it did; China Jade' s food that we've had in the past has been very good indeed. Today, though, the main things we ordered were pork lo mein and chicken egg foo young.
In the past, egg foo young was egg with something cooked into it, like an omelet (i.e. with the eggs light and fluffy), with a light brown sauce on it. More recently, Chinese restaurants have taken to just cooking the egg and adding the other stuff in with the sauce.
What we got tonight was tough, thin hunks of egg folded in half, so that we weren't sure what was egg and what was pork. The sauce was not light, but viscous.
Speaking of viscous, that was much the kind of sauce that came on the lo mein.
I really don't know what happened--perhaps the lo mein and egg foo young suffered in transit. (That's why we don't order seafood dishes for delivery.) We know China Jade can make good food; we've eaten it. We'll just avoid lo mein and egg foo...
