Quite possibly the best experience at a "chain" restaurant we've ever had! The food was fresh, hot, and delicious, and fast! All the staff were amazing and friendly. Our waiter, John, was fabulous! Friendly, outgoing, funny, and had a sixth sense on what we wanted before we even asked. (Extra napkins, plastic utensil kits with our leftovers boxes. Apricot Syrup! Other condiments.) We were staying at a nearby hotel, as my husband was working at the GAOS at the farm show that week. We also got to chat with the manager, as well as a couple guys from the kitchen, who were equally terrific! Everyone there seemed so friendly and welcoming, like having dinner with friends. Loved it so much, we went three times that week! I got my favorite "Build a Breakfast" twice, because I do love Perkins breakfast food. Applewood bacon was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. And that Apricot Syrup on the fluffy pancakes is my favorite reason to go to any Perkins! Also had the turkey dinner, which was excellent, and my first non-breakfast meal at a Perkins. Hubby kept saying each day that he planned to get chicken fried steak, but alas, each day he was tempted by a different offering. He started with the Build a Breakfast. Next was the Breakfast Burger. The third day, he was determined to get the chicken fried steak. But, as John our wonderful waiter walked quickly to serve another guest, he showed hubby the evening’s special: 18oz T-bone! Hubby couldn’t resist, and ordered a rare-cooked steak with eggs over easy and crisp hash browns. A week later, and he’s still talking about how delicious it was! Overall, a terrific dining experience! I hope we get to be back for next year’s GAOS, just to visit this Perkins again! (Unfortunately, we live 3hrs away, or else we’d visit weekly) John, Thank You for being so wonderful! And thank the other great staff, too!
Read moreCame in for a Togo order...got the sirloin with two sides. Added mushrooms and fried shrimp. Steak was tough, rubbery and under cooked. Asked for it to be cooked medium and got medium rare. Didn't get my mushrooms or shrimp that I paid for. My sides were corn which was really old and weathered... my other side was baked potato which was fine. However couldn't eat the steak because it was under cooked and an absolute horrible cut of meat. Didn't eat the corn because it tasted dried out and old. My husband got the turkey, stuffing and cranberry. He said it tasted like a thick cut if lunch meat, he also didn't get his cranberry and the stuffing was old. Now I will take partial blame for not checking our food before we left to make sure everything was correct..... however at what point for the price we pay for meals should I not have to check to make sure my food is all there and that I don't have to take it out if the Togo containers and cut into the steak to make sure they know how to cook it to the temperature requested. The quality all together would be something you'd find at a homeless shelter. We would have walked back over from the truck stop across the street however by the time we were able to place our order and get it back to the truck the restaurant had closed. We will deft not be returning to this Perkins which is unfortunate because we do travel this corridor for work often and was hoping that this location was going to be as good as the others we have...
Read moreHonestly didn't even eat. We sat down and our waitress had an attitude from the second we said hello and ordered drinks. She took our order and we waited for a long time, nothing. She overheard me say to my husband that it was taking a while and she interjected that she was waiting for 3 pancakes. To me that means all our food was ready but not the pancakes. Why did we not get the food and then eventually bring out the pancakes? Was our food just sitting underneath a heating lamp? It was 12:45pm when she told us that. We got up and asked the front if we could pay for our kids' drinks so we can leave bc it was now 1:05pm and not a single food item was served to us yet. The front was apologizing profusely as our waitress ran to the kitchen and came out with a tray full of our food with a huge attitude like "it's right hereeeee" we paid the $2 and change for the 2 kids' drinks and left. There's no way it all was miraculously done that second we decided enough was enough. People who sat well after us were getting their food before us, pancakes included. We stopped bc we were going to be early for an event. We ended up being 20 minutes late to it bc it took so long for us to literally not eat at all. So disappointing. We didn't even have time to order bakery items we planned to. So disgusted, especially by that waitress's sour attitude the entire time. Total...
