Puebla Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in West Liberty

The food is good, but... They charge for a 2nd salsa or a 2nd basket of chips. We were at a table with 3 separate checks and had to ask 4 times for another basket of chips and another salsa. But, had we sat at separate tables, we would have each gotten a free one, for a table of 6. They will not give you a bill and will ask first if you're paying with cash or check... We wanted to know how much the bill was to decide what we were paying with and apparently they add another $3 if you use a card, but this is not even stated anywhere and they don't tell you, they just add it on and then give you your "total". The staff cannot do math. My bill was $20.33, I gave her $50.35, simple math for most of us, my change should be $30.02 but the girl argued with me that my change was $28-and some change, I literally had to tell her how to type it in on the calculator then when she saw I was right, still didn't fix it but went to get a manager. The manager - oh my, she clearly doesn't understand customer service at all, she got an attitude, continued to argue with me even after I told her how to type it in a calculator, as well. Just fix your mistake and move on, it's not hard. But she wouldn't so I said that's fine, you keep my extra $2 and none of us 3 will tip you at all then. You just lost out on $15 in tips. And no, there was no language barrier, just In case you're wondering. It was simply millennials who can't do math and wanted to argue for 15 mins over $2. Zero customer service...

I was driving through and saw this place. Went in and sat down. I ordered combination plate #5. My waitress spoke little English. I pointed at #5 on the combination plate. Enchilada, quesadilla, chili relleno. She pointed at it as well and asked what kind of sauce I wanted. I said green. ( at least that's what I thought she asked. Apparently I was right. The meal came out and it was not what I ordered. It was two enchiladas. When the waitress came to ask me about the meal I pointed out it was not what I ordered. There was a communication barrier. She had her supervisor come and I tried to explain that I had ordered combination plate #5. She pointed out my meal was lunch special # 5. I said that was fine. I will eat it even though I did not order it. I had ordered combination plate #5. She said ok. When I went to pay my bill was $24.00 Apparently, she thought I was ordering combination plate #5 to go. I paid. I told her I did not order that. I paid for it anyway. Told her someone else can eat it. And left. Otherwise, food was good. Nothing exceptional. Clean place. Bad...

I usually try to leave a jokey review but I genuinely do love this place. Could not recommend it higher.

Many Mexican restaurants have tried and failed in this exact local; permanently closing in under a year. Obviously I don't know what's going on internally but from the outside, it seems to be going quite well.

If this place were to close it doors my little heart will break into 13 shards and would be spread across the land. And If someone were to come into contact with all 13 of them, a being would rise out of the earth's core and cause an event which would wipe out most of the population. Those still left would be forced to work for the being, or risk eternal torture. Those who somehow manage to escape would pick up arms and establish an organization seeking the liberation of the human race and the destruction of the being.
