Mikes Tavern — Restaurant in West Peoria

All things are relative to your expectations. If you are going to Mike's with the expectation of a 5-star dining experience, you are going to be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a great dive bar, this is the place. It is very small ... 2 tables and maybe 6 barstools. There is a decent sized patio, but we didn't go out there. The place is held together by all of the stickers on nearly every surface. The server was the bartender, the server, and the cook. She did it all seamlessly. The food was fantastic. The party ordered cheese balls and onion rings. Each were huge portions and more than enough for the three of us. I ordered a tenderloin. It was about the size of two buns, meaty, and lightly breaded. Very tasty! The party also ordered the cream cheese double cheeseburger and the grilled cheese double cheese burger. The cream cheese burger had a slather of Jalapeño cream cheese with pepper jack cheese between the burgers. My son loved it. The grilled cheese burger was a grilled cheese sandwich with a double cheeseburger in between. My other son called it cheesy deliciousness! Mike's might be the top dive bar in Peoria. I will...

Small hole in the wall bar and grill. Great atmosphere and decor. Husband had the Cheeseburger, I had the Tenderloin and we shared the truffle oil fries. Food was hot, crisp, and very good. Really nice neighborhood bar worth checking out. A group of us went because we had heard about their tenderloins. It was good, but I thought the double cheese burger was better. Prices were reasonable, and the Oktoberfest beer was good and cold. There are only a few tables but plenty of room at the bar....
