First time here and it was great! We ordered takeout and it took about 25 minutes or so. I had to wait for a short bit for them to make some more rice, but the rest of our food was fresh as well. Portion sizes were large, so the prices fit well. The food was fresh and tasted great. We had general tsos chicken, vegetable lo mein, and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup could have been a touch spicier, but it was still good. I love how they have extra packaging in the takeout bag because there's always a little spilling in the bag from other places. The staff was very nice, and she tended well to the seated patrons. After they left, she took a decent amount of time to make sure their seating area was clean which was great. Overall, the place was very clean and neatly decorated. It would be a nice place for a family dinner. There is a small buffet there as well. Can't wait to come back!

A Chinese restaurant in west union? Yes there is! So the biggest sad was the wait time for food- to the point that we were starting to wonder if we were getting anything. Everything was a bit salty but portions were fair. The chicken and mushrooms should have just said mushrooms with a bit a chicken- very disappointing because the sauce was great. Prices— bring money because it’s the same as if you were at a fancy place in a big city- the four of us dropped $90 total so yeah

Ordered the Potstickers, Beef Lo Mein, and the Szechuan Chicken. The place was packed and many people were picking up to go orders which makes sense as the food was fresh, piping hot, full of flavor, and spicy (tolerable and enjoyable). There's a reason it was busy. Great atmosphere, even better food, and exceptional service! Would drive an hour to come back for a good time and amazing meal! A gem of West Union.

Edited: That staff no longer works there so my review is now 5 stars. Let me start off by saying the only reason I took off a star is because of the lady that was serving yesterday (5/18/21). My table was served by a very nice young gentleman whose name was Ryan I believe. He was very courteous, polite, and more than helpful. During our lunch however, there were multiple times that this lady who was in charge "called out" Ryan in front of the whole restaurant. It was for minor grievances, ones that could have easily been addressed behind the counter in a courteous tone. I felt very bad for Ryan, as I myself have been in a position with poor management who don't know how to respect their employees.. It is very embarrassing to be talked down to infront of customers and yelled at for such minor mishaps. I have been in management positions as well, and a good supervisor knows that you treat your employees with respect and dignity!.. Hence, after eating I went up to the counter to address my concerns with the lady. I told her that it's not nice to call out coworkers in front of customers. She told me, "I'm his supervisor". As if it makes it okay to speak to other with disrespect, especially those you are suppose to help! She obviously does not think that what she did was wrong. And as a customer, I find it sad to think that management of China Kitchen thinks it's okay to treat their employees in this regard. I hope that upper management address her actions accordingly so that I can delete this portion of my review and give China Kitchen 5 stars that they otherwise deserve.

Now, concerning their food, which is what most people want to know of course, it is absolutely delicious! You get large portions for a very good price. They offer both lunch and dinner options depending on the time that you're there. Lunch options are served with three sides that are very filling, and all for less than $10. They also have very delicious vegetarian options, and know how to make tasty fried tofu. All in all, one of the best places in northeast Iowa to get tasty Chinese for an...

Normally like going here but was VERY disappointed tonight because of service. We walked in, sat down, and waited to be waited on. (We were seen walking in by guy at cash register that was busy at time and a gal that was standing by him at register ) No one came to give us a menu or ask what we would want to drink. The on gal brought food to 2 different tables by us, passing our table without so much as a hello may I help you. At ANY of those times it would of been so easy for her to stop and hand us menus to look at buy never did. After 10-15 minutes of waiting to even get a menu we decided to walk out and go someplace else instead. This has NEVER happened to me before at this place, normally the service is good. Normally as soon as I walk in no matter how busy I am greated by wait staff with a menu and asked what I would like yo drink........I do not know what was going on tonight but there is no excuse for being ignored all together and if I go there to eat again and I see that particular waitress working I will turn and walk out right away instead of wasting my time waiting to never...

Located in West Union, IA. Was easy to get to.

Went at 1 PM on a Saturday. They offered menu ordering or lunch buffet, which was $14.95 for adults. I ordered the buffet and my family ordered menu orders of Sweet & Sour Lunch combinations.

My favorite items on the buffet: Mongolian Beef (spicy but not nuclear). Sesame Chicken (glaze a bit spicy but not much.

Other buffet items that were good: Fried Cheese Won Tons (Crab Rangoon without the crab) Mushroom Chicken in Dark Gravy with Vegetables

Fried Rice was just OK Spicy Soup was good. Egg Rolls were just the small rolls, not big.

Disappointment was the Sweet & Sour Chicken on the buffet and on menu was overcooked and dry. Mentioned it to staff and that batch must have been overcooked.

It is very family friendly with a sign there that says they welcome all children and don't worry about making a mess, it is all good. Very community oriented so that is a nice. They are currently on vacation until 7/15/2025.

If you like the items I listed,...
