Update: March 23, 2023 Today we went to lunch at Harding Family Restaurant in Charleston WV. We had been out for a few hours on a day trip and got a little hungry. We stopped for lunch. Deacon has the child's Spaghetti with Garlic Toast and Lemonade. Kayla a Hot Ham & Cheese with fries and Noel and I went with Beef Liver & Onions, Broccoli w Cheddar Cheese. She had Green Beans and I had Veggie Beef Soup. They brought us a plate of Garlic Toast which Deacon blew away.... The meal was good. The waitress awesome. Prices good. Definitely will go back again!!! A year ago: Tony and I ate lunch at Harding's Restaurant but It was very unpleasant. Our waitress was loud and rude, constantly hollering across the room to the cook ((Scooter)) in the kitchen. Well let's put it this way, apparently he's off this weekend and its his anniversary Tony ordered chili and grilled cheese which turned out a cheese sandwich, it was never melted!! I had beef liver and onions, mashed potato and gravy with broccoli. It was okay, but the liver didn't seem cooked well. Mashed potatoes had a hardened skim on the top and sides ( what's that about???) Don't think we will be going back!!

I stopped in around 10:30am on a weekday and was greeted quickly, though the restaurant was mostly empty. I ended up seating myself since the staff didn’t seem eager to get me settled right away. Not a big deal, but worth noting. (I was hungry) My server was friendly and recommended the pancakes, but I opted for an omelet instead. Unfortunately, the omelet was dry and the ingredients inside seemed cold. I managed to eat about half, but it wasn’t enjoyable. The coffee was standard, nothing special. One bright spot was chatting with a regular customer who had ties to my hometown — a pleasant connection in an otherwise lackluster experience. Service-wise, I wasn’t told payment was at the register, so I waited at my table for some time before realizing. Overall, I left unimpressed. Making a good omelet isn’t complicated, and unfortunately mine missed the mark on both taste and texture. Off the beaten path in Charleston, but not a spot I’d hurry back to.

Older country style restaurant that’s been a the community since 1980. Food is simple home cooked fare that can be very hit or miss. Tonight was a hit. We ordered the Sunday special baked steak with mashed potatoes and green beens, and the farm hand skillet. The baked steak was tender and a nice size portion. The gravy was really thick. The mashed potatoes are pretty standard and the green beans were well seasoned. The skillet consisted of eggs, sausage, shredded potatoes, peppers and onions. All was good and we left happy. We have always had nice servers that aren’t overly attentive, they let you have your space, which is fine for us. Most of the clientele are 60+. The kind of place you go when you want to be reminded of your great grandparents.

Got the Smothered Chicken & Meatloaf. Both were terrible. Baked potato was made at least the day before, was like a shoe. 2 small cjix breast for $13. The rice was mush and had an up charge for a bowl of shredded lettuce, called a salad even though you were supposed to get 2 sides. Blue cheese dressing was simply mayonnaise in a little container with BC written on it. The waitress and service was great and the lady at the register (whom looks like Judge Judy) is a gem. Oh.. The carpets in the place should be cause for the county to lock the doors. Since it's been here for years (I've been told) and is always packed, I can only assume the owners must be quite greedy, as it is OBVIOUS no money has been put back into the business in decades. The decor is late 70s Tudor. I think they are trying to be something you would find in a place like Gatlinburg, Branson or Asheville, but instead is a dated, large Waffle House without its famous chicken breast marinade. I find it hard to patronize a place where it's clearly doing business but the owners put nothing back into the business. When the clientele that packed this place dies off, which is not long.. Seriously. They will not appeal to the next generation, unless they do some major cleaning, painting and updating. The most clean and modern part of the place was their gift shop. It's a shame because I don't like chain, big Corp eateries, but clearly the owners take the money and run at this...

This restaurant has been an area go-to place for decades. Whether eating solo, with a few friends or in a large group, the accommodations fit. There's a eating bar area or small table seating if you want to dine alone, booths and larger tables for small groups and banquet tables in a separate wing for large groups and private parties. The prices are reasonable, with lunch specials and many regular menu items for less than $10 a person, and that includes your drink. All seating is served by friendly and helpful wait staff, so no fast food feel or atmosphere. I had the turkey and dressing special and my lunch partner had the soup. Both were country cooked, tasty and served quickly to accommodate lunch schedules. Their breakfast foods are well known also, and the restaurant is always populated with customers during most all hours of operation. In my years as a patron, I cannot remember waiting more than a few minutes to be seated. In the event that you must wait a few minutes, those can be well spent browsing in the adjoining gift shop where you will find something for most anyone and a selection of greeting cards and post cards to share with someone special. I highly recommend you give Harding's...
