Stratford Springs Restaurant and The West Sports Bar — Restaurant in West Virginia

Took a weekend vacation with my kids to Oglebay. Was trying to discover a new restaurant in the area. Found this place online and the variety on the menu peeked our interest. We waited 5-10 minutes before someone noticed we needed seated in an empty restaurant aside from a well know older couple in the back corner. They attempted to help us find the working staff. The waitress seating us that finally showed from the upstairs with one or two other girls appeared to be under the influence of something to say the least. We ordered food. The appetizers we wanted we were told we could not have because the artichokes has just been delivered and needed an hour to cook. The vinegar mixture used for dipping the bread is awful. My salad tasted wonderful for the first couple bites but there were so many gnats that one drowned in my ranch dressing. That meal was over! We ordered lamb chops and steak cooked medium. When they finally came out all of the food was cold and they were raw. Even after I asked them to put it back in they came back out raw. The waitress was accommodating and removed from the bill however her sobriety is still a question. I saw this restaurant online the pictures and menu look like a good option. Let me say this; I have been in the restaurant business for 50 years eating out around the world. I consider myself fair and forgiving, by far this is the worst restaurant experience I have ever experienced. Stratford Springs does not exist, instead some other atrocity exist. I entered with two hostesses? Sitting with their feet on the hostess station neve a hello, one finally got up and knocked the candy wrappers of the stack of menus and walked into the dinning room, so I followed.and was seated , I was the only one in the dinning room. 15 minutes later a server fro what seemed to be a private party stopped by and asked if I had been helped, then yelled the 50 feet back to the hostess and said someone needs to wait on me she was too busy . Was there for the Mothers Day Buffet. Had reservations for 2:00 PM. Appetizer/Salad Bar was nearly empty. Advertised Mussels in Garlic butter - none. Carving table - Beef Tenderloin - none (after inquiring gentleman brought some out looked like extremely overcooked, the Pork Loin had been previously sliced with just few pieces remaining. Advertised Crab Cakes with lobster sauce - none, Steamed vegetables - pan still there but completely empty. Desserts table advertised Variety of cheesecakes - 1 piece left on table (plain cheesecake) 1 cake and 1 pumpkin pie. Serving tables were dirty where people spilled food - looked very unappetizing. Seemed to be very poorly managed. Staff was not very friendly - probably tired of hearing people complain. It is a shame. The place is unique and a great atmosphere.
