I stopped by to grab a beer before I took my bike back to the storage unit. The heavy set blond lady who is the manager I guess told me to be quiet and not use profanity due to the kids at the table across the room so I apologized and stopped using profanity. A few minutes later she walked up to me and told me it was time for me to leave before she called Dunbar PD. I told her go ahed I did nothing wrong. The same lady said she would informe the pd I was in there earlier drinking a beer while my son ate a pice of there 8 anniversary cake. What she leaves out is she yolked my 10 yr old son and drug him to the bar to give the bartender the money in his hand and then pushed him out the door. That seems like good atmosphere to me.
I can appreciate haveing rules against profanity but me dropping the f bomb one time in a conversation with another patron who was doing the same. Like you said I apologized and complied. I have heard your employees say worse than that on a regular basis. As for the vaping. I took my vape from my pocket because it was uncomfortable to sit at the bar stool with it in my pocket. In mid conversation I did stick it to my lips from habit but if you truly watched the video then you would have noticed I didn’t blow out any vapor because it was in the closed position. I have ADHD and tend to mess with things while conversing. As for the light heart playing your employee engaged my 10 yr old son with. I paid our tab and I was brought back my change it was put on the counter where my son picked it up. I told my son maybe you should leave that as a tip. He said no I want to keep it walked away with it. At that point 2 of your employees cornered him and she grabbed him by both arms drug him to the bartender where she made him release the money to the bartender. Then she pushed him to the door , kicked him in the butt and shut him out. All while I was still seated inside. She was actually rough enough with him that he complained to his mother about the lady when he got home. Fast forward to my last visit when I told to leave I didn’t get agressive I just asked what I did wrong since I complied whith her previous request. She said i was done. I replied ok I’ll pay my tab finish my bud light (of which I only had two sips left) and leave . I had already requested my check from the bartender because of the attitude the manager had. Her response was she would have Dunbar PD escort me out. As I was paying my tab. Playful or not what makes you think it is ok for your employee to put their hands on someone’s kid and drag them across the room and force them out the door. I use to go to the bucket a few times a week and was always respectful and tipped pretty well. I say all this because I never intend on going back to this establishment. If the manager didn’t have a horrible attitude and just asked for me to leave it would have been ok. But threatening me as I’m trying to pay my tab and leave is horrible service. The money my son had in his hands was not the servers money nor the buckets. I was trying to teach my son by letting him choose to tip on his own so he could learn. Not have employees make him tip. You can write whatever response you would like to explain it away and not accept responsibility but it was 100%...
Read moreA friend and I stopped in around 6pm for a bite to eat. When we walked in we both commented on how clean the place was. We were promptly greeted and asked if we would like a seat the bar or one of their many tables; we took a table. The jukebox was on point with a great mix of rock and alternative, from the 80s and 90s.
For an appetizer we tried the Bucket Balls; it is a battered and fried concoction of corn, pepper jack cheese, and jalapenos, in roughly the shape of a tator-tot, and served with their Bucket Sauce (a sweet chili sauce). These delectable bites really set the tone for the night; they were crunchy, cheesey, a little spicy, and with the sauce, the perfect amount of sweet.
For dinner I went with 6 wings in the Bucket sauce described above, and the club sandwich. Let's talk wings. They showed up hot and covered in sauce, which is a great way to start. I picked up a wing and took a bite; there was a perfectly crunchy skin that opened the gate to a moist piece of chicken. In short, they were perfect.
The club. Thick bread separated the layers of crispy bacon, perfectly sliced ham, American cheese, veggies, and mayo. It was stacked high, but sized perfectly for a bite full of everything. The bacon was crispy, the veggies were fresh, and the ham was sliced perfectly. No complaints and I will order it again.
I would be remiss if I didn't dedicate a few words to the fries that were included with my sandwich. These hot, crispy, battered, salted, strips of potato, were perfect in every way. Get them. Eat them.
My friend got the cheese steak and it looked incredible. In fact, it must have been because he is already wanting another.
In short, it is a cool spot with great food. I was so distracted by my food, I didn't even...
Read moreLots of 5 Star reviews, plus lots of good word-of-mouth recommendations, so my wife & I decided to try The Bucket for lunch today. We arrived at 1 p.m. & it was a challenge finding a parking spot as the place was packed. Good sign, I convinced myself...
No problems finding a seat, thankfully. Waitress was busy, but nonetheless prompt & cheerful, and took our drink orders right away. Wife ordered a Pepperoni Roll and a cup of Broccoli Cheese Soup. I ordered a Bucket Burger w/Onion Rings. Within 10 minutes, wife's soup arrives steaming hot. She proclaimed it "good, but not as good as mine [hers]." So far, so good. 25 minutes later before our entrees arrive. Wife believes these are the best Pepperoni Rolls she's ever eaten. Me? My burger arrived with cheese on it, even though I made it a point to stress NO cheese. Still, no harm, no foul. 3-5 minutes later, I have a new Burger placed in front of me (after waiting 35 minutes on my first. Really?).
I really can't remember the last time I was so under-impressed with a hamburger. I know this isn't a gourmet restaurant, but I consider $10 an upscale price for one. At best, The Bucket serves bar food, and that's not a bad thing. I've had very good bar food at a variety of places. I can't say this ranks up there with any of them. I would also suggest that if burgers are your thing, avoid them here altogether. I should also add the Onion Rings were beer battered (my fav) and very tasty, however, they were also stone cold. Needles to say, my first experience here was nowhere as good as my wife's.
Would I eat here again? Maybe, if I happened to be in the area. One bad visit isn't indicative of normal quality or service, but because I had high expectations I was really disappointed...
