In a word, my dining experience here was terrible. When we made a reservation, our first choice of dinner time was 6:10 but later they told us to come 8:30. We understood. it's busy season. So We got there 8:20. But it was after about 40mins when we were seated! We already chose our dishes about a month ago on the internet when we made a reservation(they had this form to be filled out). We thought they require this because it's hard for them to be supplied the ingredients. But when we tell them we already ordered our dish online, they said they've never heard of this! We were very confused! But anyway we just ordered again since we wanted to save our time instead of complaining about this (we were very hungry). It was after another 30mins when we got our very small portioned more like cafeteria quality food! My boy passed his bed time way before and We were just putting the food into our mouth mechanically to stuff our stomach. I hardly skip tipping at a restaurant but this time I just simply couldn't. But then the waiter turned very angry when he found out I didn't tip. He rudely asked me why I didn't tip! And when I was trying to explain nicely, he rudely stopped me in the middle of my answering to his own question! I've never experienced this kind of thing in my life. So what can I say? I will never visit this place again during my stay in Yellowstone and will try to stop anyone who says he/she will eat here. By the way, It was $76 meal for 2...

Wowzers. I made these reservations a while ago. When we were staying in the park, we realize we would not make that time that day so I had called and change the time to a later time. When we arrive to check in, they did not have a reservation. There is a lag between Xanterra and the restaurant- if you cancel or modify within 24 hours, the restaurant doesn’t get it. Had to show them my email confirmation of the change. And we were seated.

It took a while for a server to come to our table. But we knew what we wanted. Two vegetarian entrées, the only ones on the menu, and two bison burgers. The vegetarian entrées were terrible. The tofu had a cornmeal on the outside that was flavorless. It tasted like you were eating grains of sand. The guacamole that came on the side was not like guacamole. It was like a green goo. And the cold mash peas were utterly disgusting. Again, flavorless. The fries were good, thank goodness because that was our dinner. It was a hodge podge if grossness.

The burgers were ordered a medium and they were brought inside. The waiter didn’t even come to see how everything was. He just came to take her order and then give us the check.

The only reason this gets two stars is because the amazing water boy Matthew. He was on his A game, refilling, our water drinking family often.

It was pretty expensive for a plastic fry basket restaurant.

If you’ve made reservations, cancel them, go down the road and pickup some PB&J, so...

BAD MANAGEMENT!!! If you're coming to Yellowstone, be aware that very few restaurants are even open. The sign on the door to this one said Dinner starting at 5pm. So we waited over an hour waiting for it to open, thinking we would have a sit-down meal. Boy were we wrong as were at least 30 other people! A manager came over from the hotel and unlocked the door. We were one of the first there at opening after waiting....only to find out you have to have a reservation! No signage indicating this and nothing on any of the websites saying this either. How do you make a reservation in a park with little to no cell service?! The manager's response was he had 300 hotel guests coming. I could see the reservation page. Most of the reservations were crossed off! The whole place was empty and he was turning away about 50 people willing to eat now! The perception I got was unless you were a hotel guest in his hotel you were on your own. I have no idea if the food was even decent but with this treatment they aren't getting any of my patronage! Most of the restaurants have limited service or are closed. I know that the flood damage closed 2 entrances but 3 are...

(We had the breakfast buffet here as well, but just rating dinner here) We had a very pleasant dining experience here for our party of eight. They are not joking when they said that reservations are recommended for dinner. If you didn’t have a reservation, you could be waiting two hours or more for even a small party for dinner. So do yourself a favor, and make advance reservations. We were very pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the food and the presentation here. It was first class! The fried calamari was crispy, and the remoulade dip was delicious. The only downside to the calamari was that it was strips, not rings/tentacles. The smoked trout dip was great, loved the onions and capers. My Skuna Bay salmon was great, loved the kimchi cucumber on it. My companions’ chicken curry and jerked tofu were equally good. The gumbo was notably delicious. The trout, ordered by our member who had gluten issues, was done perfectly. We had the olive oil cake (absolutely delicious lemon flavor and great texture), volcano caldera cake (yummy) and ice cream (big scoops!).

The only restaurant open in this area during the off-season, it's got kind of a captive audience. You really need to make reservations for dinner, as it's a 30-60 minute wait without one. But the view of Lake Yellowstone is amazing, the wait staff was impeccable, and the menu items were interesting and while they might normally seem expensive, considering that everything had to be brought in, it's not too bad. And there are some good choices. We had two dinners there, as we were staying at the Coyote Lodge nearby, and between us we had the prime rib sliders (tender, tasty, plenty for a full meal even though they're listed as appetizers), the bison burger (huge and good when medium rare with plenty of fresh toppings and good crisp fries), the chicken linguini (small size was plenty with a small side salad), and the braised chicken thighs on polenta. The food was prepared well. I especially liked all the huckleberry desserts. *laughs* If you are able to indulge, there are some really good "local" possibilities, all sourced within 500 miles of the park.
