The only and I mean only reason why this is not a complete 5 star is because they REALLY REALLY need to expand. It is super crowded and takes a long time to get through the lines especially on the weekend. Other than that, this is a great place to stop when you are in the area. I have family and we come back once or twice a year and always stop at least on the way out, if not during the trip itself. It's a great place to get gas. Reasonably priced. I always run into a familiar face from highschool. Sometimes you run into a famous face cause everybody stops there. I do have to complain that we could not find hardly any sugar free or diet drinks and they used to carry more options. We ended up going across the highway for a drink. We always stop and see what they have on the day old cart and the frozen cooler, but they do not put price tags on all the stuff so sometimes we get something and sometimes we don't. The prices of the items have gone up over the years. I was shocked at $19 for pimento cheese and put it back. We ended up spending $50 on a day old cake loaf, and two boxes of kolaches. The cake loaf was moist and did not taste day old at all. I am dolling out the kolaches to myself but they are just as good as always. Got to get the traditional cottage cheese, an apricot and a poppy seed roll. Also a sausage and krout. Then have to try the new stuff like the jalapeƱo popper, Pineapple and cream cheese or Nutella. But really, I have never had a kolache from there that I did not like. I wish they would bring back some of the old stuff like roast beef puffs or the peanut butter cinnamon rolls that they...

I have been buying kolaches here for a few months while visiting north Texas. I started calling ahead for my orders and the manager seemed to get irritated that I was making a large order (four dozen) over the phone. She told me a couple times to call the day before. I explained that in most circumstances I don’t know for sure what the next day will require of me and whatever kolaches they have available would be fine. I also noticed that every time I walked in there were only 1-2 customers there. When I tried calling yesterday morning at about 6:30, the lady that answered the phone said she would write down my order and put me on hold. When she came back, she told me that her manager said that they require a two hour notice for all call ahead orders. Since I was getting there just before 7 and they open at 5, this would require me to call the day before. When I asked why the sudden change the woman said that ā€œthey’re really busyā€. When I drove by shortly after the call, there was no one inside the store standing in line for kolaches. So, I went to Slovacek’s across the highway. They filled my order without complaining about being given notice, gave me a price list, and confirmed that I can call ahead with orders anytime, even the five dozen I ordered. Also, they have a much wider selection, actually put effort into the presentation by buttering the food, and the kolaches tasted amazing. Czech Stop is just s gas station compared to Slovacek’s. Come here if you want terrible service and...
