I went to lunch with a friend today. I like Thai food so I tried a new place but overall it was so bland that it was hard to eat. The service was just that they brought our order and there was no service at all and there was only one server! They didn't even give us another glass of water and even though I kept looking at them to ask them to bring me the bill (for about 10? 15 minutes?), I couldn't make eye contact because they were busy serving other people's orders. I barely managed to make eye contact and pay. It was about $57. When I came out and added a $6 tip, they said we had to pay a minimum of 15% and some shit. So I told them a tip was a tip and $6 was enough, but they still complained. So I told them I wouldn't come back. No, the customer decides the tip based on the service they received, not the restaurant. They just brought our order to the table and said we had to pay a 15% service charge? OMG!!!!!!!! A comment came to my review a little while ago, saying that I was treated the best. What kind of the best treatment? They brought my order to the table? The kind of treatment that doesn't even refill my water when I don't ask for it at other restaurants? And my friend ordered Drunken Noodle and ate it all, but I ate almost half of the pad thai I ordered, and my friend ate a little, so I left a 1/3. The Tamyam soup was also sweet, so I ate only half and my friend ate a little. Pad Thai Noodles are overcooked and almost porridge.I just tried to block it. Paying is also what I do at the casher desk, at a food court without tips, at a burger king. Other restaurants always give me bill to the table. It's my first time there, so I didn't even know I was paying myself when I went to casher.I never complained to him that he couldn't serve me, and he complained to me that he has 6 dollars. I just gave him less than 15% because he didn't serve me. If he was busy serving by himself, could serving be good? Of course the cost of serving was small! I can't believe he was threatening for tips on serving like that. They really make customers laugh. OK I won't go...
Read moreOrdered pad thai, shrimp platter and duck. Shrimp platter was average...4 shrimps with lots of salad on side. Pad Thai noodles and duck was good. Though I asked multiple times for nut free food, sauce with spring rolls had nuts in it. My child started getting hives. I didn't wanted to create a scene and wanted to leave quick, so when the server came with bill , I rounded my bill to even $95, since I wasn't happy with the service. Couldn't believe the server said to me , you are only tipping me $8. I got quiet and proceeded with signing receipt. This time she got loud and said in Massachusetts, customers are obligated to pay 20% of bill. I was appalled by this. The owner should let the server know that getting 20% of tip depends on how good the service was provided and it is not obligatory for me to give her 20%. Besides, the server should know that I was not impressed by their service and by asking 4 times I am not going to change my mind. In the end, she took the white credit card Clover machine without even saying thanks and slammed the kitchen door. I totally understand that servers get paid minimum wage and they rely on tips , but also it's rude to ask to give 20% of tip. I was kind enough not to mention my child having allergy reaction but this person was on a roll. So, this is my last time visiting this place and will sure not recommend my...

The food here gets 5 stars but i could give it less than 0 for what they did with my bill.
Our family of 3 dined at Thai Tamarind last week, I paid my bill along with the tip, when I checked my bank statement I noticed that I was over charged for my bill. The amount was more than what I had actually paid, I thought it may have been done by error so I called the restaurant to clarify this; the lady at the reception checks the details and blatantly asks me why I paid less tip and further adds that the over charge is only a few dollars, I was shocked when she said this. So this was not an error as i was assuming all along, the server had knowingly charged my card over what I had signed for. This is sheer misuse of a customer's trust.
The tip paid by a customer is a personal preference and unless gratuity (which was not applicable to us) is specified it's the customer who decides the amount. The restaurant does not have any right to charge me over what I have already paid.
The excess amount was refunded to me however for a few dollars not only have they lost a customer but they put the reputation of a good eating...
