January 18, 2023 - I’ve been driving past this diner for over 50 years. . . So glad my wife & I stopped for lunch! 😃👍🏼 Pleasantly surprised by the friendly service & good comfort food!
Located in Milford, at the PA/NY exit off Interstate 84. . . ( next to Matamoras, PA) there’s a 1956 old fashion silver streamlined art deco (looks like a train car) Village Diner. Owners are Maria Pagelos Wall ( sister) and Agisilaos Pagelos ( brother) who purchased diner from father, Dimitrios Pagelos in 2000. Hey, they’re Greek, and their Greek specialties are authentic tasting Greek good!
Our server Leah met us at the door with two menus, said, “ Sit where you’d like !” As I walked past the pies, cookies, and muffins, I asked if the baked desserts were homemade? Leah’s “ affirmative”, suggested I should save room for desserts! 😃
My wife ordered the half sandwich combo w/fries, and the cup of homemade minestrone! I ordered the Greek Gyro platter with fries, and tzatziki sauce! As we waited, I snapped some photos of this classic diner. Only waited about 10 to 12 minutes. . . took me a few seconds to realize the tzatziki sauce was on the bottom of my Gyro sandwich. True gyro meat is a blend of lamb and beef, with spices ( onion, garlic, rosemary, marjoram, thyme, salt, pepper, etc.) . . . I thought my gyro was a bit over cooked, but still a marvelous Greek style taste! Five stars for a wonderful lunch ! Too full for desserts, oh well next time! Thanks to the cooks & Leah for a wonderful lunch !

Read moreMy girlfriend and I ate at the Village Diner on 8/16/2015. The service was not bad, and the food was actually pretty good.
However at the end of our meal I looked into my glass of water and noticed that there were approximately 30 things, slightly smaller than a BB floating at the bottom of my cup, and my girlfriend found the same in hers. We flagged down the waitress, who informed us that there was something wrong with the water, and she had meant to serve us some bottled water she had for this purpose. So we had been served water that clearly had something wrong with it. The staff offered no further information, and I suppose we were shocked because we left without really questioning what was wrong with this water.
As we continued our drive, we started talking about it, and began to worry exactly what was wrong with this water. We called, and the staff informed us they were not sure what was wrong with the water, just that they should not serve it. Also, there was no manager on duty, and apparently this is the case most of the time (they mentioned the managers work 3 hours a day).
We called back again, this time asking that they call their manager to ensure that whatever we drank was not dangerous. They agreed, however it took a 3rd call the next day to finally have them get in touch with someone who could tell us what the problem was. It is ridiculous that there is such little accountability at this restaurant. We were told that the problem was there water filter was broken, and removed and we would be OK. My girlfriend and I have both felt sick to our stomachs all day today (the day after eating there).
It's disgusting to think that this place is open despite having these problems with their water system. Regardless of if you drink the water or not, they have to wash their dishes, cook, and clean with it. Also according to waitress there, who told me "I drank some a few months back by mistake, and was fine you probably will be too" this is something that has been a problem for a while.
Avoid this place at all costs, if they can't take care of something as important and basic as having clean water, I can only imagine what else is going on in...
Read moreOk so here goes, I don't usually do this but this time I felt it was absolutely necessary. I went to the village diner with my wife to have a late brunch, the waitress was attentive and friendly, I got an omelet for my wife with a side of bacon and a chunky monkey milk shake for me with an order of Corned beef hash and eggs, everything looked delightful, I was starving as I had fasted 24 hours before this meal. immediately upon sitting down I start being harassed by a pesky fly and a Gnat, I said ok, bugs are getting in I guess it happens. I get my food and I'm eating and really enjoying it till I see something black with legs in my potatoes, I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't see clearly, so I take it out and ask my wife to confirm if this was indeed a bug, she immediately said "oh yea its a bug" I told the waitress and she Apologized and asked me if I wanted them to remake the meal, I said no, sorry but I just lost my appetite and got nauseous. So I get the bill and was completely blown away by the price, $47 bucks, here's the breakdown. side of bacon $5.99 - 2 seltzers $7.38 - Milkshake $9.99 and the omelet was $21.24 . The manager never came out to personally talk to me or apologize for the BUG in my food, the only thing they did was remove my meal from the Bill because I didn't eat it. Can you imagine what my bill would have been with my meal included ??…unbelievable...And there was also a horrible musty odor coming from the AC vents that was making it hard for me to breathe. I will never go there again. Last time I was there I sat in the back booth and the padding on the booth was worn and I could feel the 2x4 on my tailbone, I told the manager and all she had to say was, "yea its a very old restaurant" and there's always flies in there for some reason. I cant believe I paid $47 dollars for one omelet and a milkshake and a side of bacon and 2 seltzers, specially after finding a bug in my food, and still tipped the girl cause she was nice and it wasn't her fault, but that's it for me, Never again, if this place was in the city the health department would have...
